It had hoped to reopen by 09:30 GMT but the airport now says all flights are on hold until 10:30 GMT., external
Meanwhile Newcastle airport, which has seen some flights cancelled but others leaving as planned, shared a stunning photo of the North East covered in snow.

- c2c: All lines are disrupted, external with cancellations and delays
- CrossCountry: The line between Glasgow Central to Edinburgh is blocked, external and there's severe disruption on the east coast and Scotland routes
- Greater Anglia and Stansted Express: The whole network is disrupted., external No trains between Broxbourne and Rye House and some lines to and from London Liverpool Street are blocked
- London Overground: No service between Gospel Oak and Camden Road, external and severe delays on most of the line
- Merseyrail: Some trains running to and from Chester, Ellesmere Port and Liverpool have been cancelled
- ScotRail: Some trains to and from Glasgow Queen Street, Glasgow Central, Edinburgh Waverley, Aberdeen, Dundee and Inverness have been cancelled today and tomorrow., external Customers are advised not to travel in the Strathclyde area
- Southeastern: Trains are delayed and some lines are suspended, external

09:50 GMT 28 February 2018Harrogate District Hospital has asked clinical staff who are not working to report to their wards after a "significant number of staff" were unable to get into work on Wednesday.
The foundation trust said nurses were particularly needed and asked for any available staff able to walk to work, without risking a car journey.

Several flights were cancelled at Guernsey Airport to Exeter, Jersey and Birmingham, whereas others were delayed as the runway was de-iced.
The runway has since been re-opened.

09:30 GMT 28 February 2018Three hospitals in Lincolnshire have cancelled all outpatient appointments on Wednesday.
Grimsby, Scunthorpe and Goole Hospitals said the sites would not be open to elective appointments and apologised for the inconvenience.
In Cambridgeshire, NHS staff have been told to work at sites closer to their homes, rather than risk driving to hospitals further away in treacherous conditions.
Hertfordshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust - which provides services for people with mental health issues and learning difficulties - has also advised staff to go to sites closer to their homes if snow is an issue.

Stagecoach NE said all its Sunderland buses are returning to the depot until further notice, because of the "extremely dangerous" roads.
Meanwhile buses run by Go North East are only sticking to main roads, external and the Tyne and Wear Metro is not running any peak services, external.
Sunderland council has warned people to "only travel if they really need to".

However, he added there had been a "number of issues" with HGVs and cars on the road, "particularly on higher ground".
Mr Yousaf said: "People, I hope, are heeding the advice of not only avoiding travel, but also extra time, and planning extra time for their journey where they can."

The road was closed southbound near junction 52, between Scotch Corner and Catterick, after the skidded and blocked the lanes.
In Durham, the A66 was shut between the A1(M) and A685 due to the weather.
