    Bass Lane in Summerseat, Greater Manchester, will be closed from 08:30 GMT as heavy machinery is brought in to clear away debris following the collapse of the 200-year-old Waterside Pub.

    Electricity North West says engineers have completed 80% of checks to restore power to homes in Greater Manchester, external.

    The company says it has been working through the night to reconnect 357 homes that remain without power in Radcliffe, Rochdale, Littleborough, Salford and Bolton.

    Major flooding and landslips are disrupting rail services in Cumbria, the Tyne Valley and West Yorkshire, Northern Rail, external says.

    The company says it is working with Network Rail to return services to normal as soon as it can.

    The Environment Agency says water levels in North Yorkshire's flood-hit areas appear to be dropping.

    Twenty-seven flood warnings are in place across the county this morning - with six severe warnings for York. 

    Some roads are reopening in the city centre and 150 people have now been re-housed.

    A severe flood warning - the highest possible - remains in place for the village of Croston, external in Lancashire.

    The Environment Agency says it's a precautionary measure and it is monitoring river and tide levels in relation to the breach in the River Douglas Defences.

    The agency says it's assessing the situation and is looking to make a temporary repair, but there's an increased flood risk to the wider Croston area.
