"Earlier on in the week we realised that the weather was plummeting and we saw a lot of people walking around without any hot food or blankets," he said.

"I phoned a few suppliers and put the message out on Facebook and we've had a fantastic response - loads of volunteers and food."

Volunteers have also been walking around the city to help homeless people who can't get to them.

"Their blankets are wet and freezing up in the snow so they have nothing dry - we're hoping to take their blankets and dry them out for them," Mr Pearcey added.

The team will keep the pop-up soup kitchen going until the weather improves.
