The Met Office is predicting more snow across the east for today and tomorrow.

Several centimetres are expected.

Wisbech in the north of Cambridgeshire has finally succumbed to the Beast from the East, resulting in a school closure.

Meadowgate Academy in the town is the only school in Cambridgeshire County Council's list to have been closed due to today's cold snap.

It might be good news for children longing for a snow day, but it's almost certainly "beastly" news for their parents.

The Essex Roads Policing team has so far dealt with 32 accidents in the county since 05:00.

It is currently dealing a serious incident on the A120 between Colchester and Elmstead Market involving 17 vehicles.

The pebbles and sand of Southend seafront have been painted with four inches of the white stuff.

A Class 37 locomotive at Colchester has miniature snowploughs fitted for snow clearing duties on Essex branch lines.

Essex Police say one person has suffered minor injuries and a number of cars have been damaged.

Drivers are being warned to avoid the area.

Snow brings out mixed emotions for many.

Some are fed up with delays and cancellations, while others of the four legged variety like a bit of the white stuff.....

Disruption is expected on railway services for several days after heavy snowfalls overnight in some parts of the region.

Great Northern services are affected by the wintry weather.

The main affected areas are Royston, Cambridge and King's Lynn.

Forget Pyeongchang and the Winter Olympics... if you want some snow action, Canvey Island in Essex is the place to be.

It's snowing, you're walking through a hilly Christchurch Park in Ipswich on your way to BBC Suffolk and you bump into a mother and child with two sledges...

There were very crowded scenes at Chelmsford railway station this morning after the snow caused long delays and disruption on train services.

Would-be passenger Matt Wade was going nowhere and he said commuters felt the decision to cancel trains was "over cautious".

Is it a case of "Beauty From the East" instead of "Best from The East" in Leigh-On-Sea this morning?

Due to the severe weather conditions there are cancellations to Greater Anglia services on all routes today.

The company is hoping to reinstate some off-peak services this afternoon.

Thanks to under-pitch heating, the football match between Wycombe Wanderers and Coventry City is "good to go" this evening, the club has announced.

Kick off at Adams Park is at 19:45.

The 19th hole is probably more alluring, given the snow on the 18th green at Frinton Golf Club on the Essex coast.

Although train services are being affected by the weather, Greater Anglia say their staff have been out since 05:30 clearing the snow at Clacton railway station.

Also in Clacton, volunteers from the Holland and Clacton CFR team are working with the East of England Ambulance Service to help support the local community.

While the snow isn't causing any major problems on Northamptonshire's roads, the county's police force is keen to keep it that way and has issued advice to motorists on how to stay out of trouble should it get worse.

It's been a busy morning for the NHS East of England Ambulance Service.

It says it has already been called to about 30 accidents and is warning motorists to "leave plenty of space" between vehicles and "drive to arrive".

You might have seen these photos of a Cambridge punter in lots of the national newspapers today.

That's right, punters only put jackets on when it's really, really cold, and the snow flurries that hit the county on Monday certainly didn't warrant an extra layer for this hardy soul.

Professional photographer Martin Bond has made it his mission to capture a different image of his home city every day for the past eight years.

A Cambridge Diary, external documents the city throughout the year, as the seasons change, and on Monday he snapped this punt guide, not exactly dressed for the blizzard conditions.

You can just about see the snow-covered passengers who decided it was great weather for a tour of the backs of the colleges and the River Cam, but as Mr Bond wrote on social media, it was "one for all the northerners who think we're a bit soft down here".
