Moseley Golf Club initially defended itself when a local councillor passed on complaints he had received, saying shooting the animals was a "necessary evil" because they left their faeces on the course and burrow in the sandbanks.
Neighbour Lisa Blackburn, who started the petition, said she had been "heartbroken to think of the unnecessary suffering of these animals".

A fire at a Staffordshire farm that's been burning for over two weeks is to be capped with soil "immediately".
Cannock Chase District Council says it will take up to four days to cover the site at Slitting Mill in Rugeley and although it won't put the wood waste fire out, it will reduce the amount of smoke.
Air quality monitoring will be undertaken on site to ensure any smoke that is released once the capping work has been completed, remains a low risk to local residents.
