    The family of murdered DJ Tanveer Iqbar has said he was "the most precious jewel" and his loss had affected the community. 

    "Tanveer was taken away from us in a way which has had a profound effect and changed our lives forever. It is indescribable pain to lose a loved one in such a brutal manner," their statement said. 

    “Our family is proud of the fact that Tanveer had so many friends in the community who respected him and still remember him in their prayers to this day.”

    Police have named a teenage cyclist who died in a collision in Streetly last week as Daniel Horton. , external

    The 18-year-old was hit on Chester Road on Friday. 

    He was taken to hospital with serious injuries and died yesterday. 

    A 25-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.

    A mother returned from the shops to find the "lifeless" body of her 12-year-old son after he strangled himself and accidentally died, an inquest heard. 

    Karnel Haughton was found at the bottom of the stairs at his home on 1 June having taken part in a so-called "pass-out challenge".

    The court heard the Castle Vale youngster was trying to experience the sensation of passing out and coming round, which, coroner Emma Brown concluded, had unintentionally caused his death. 

    Recording a verdict of death by misadventure, she said: "This is the most tragic of deaths in extremely alarming circumstances."

    More than 800 new homes are being promised in Wolverhampton over the next four years. 

    It's part of a plan for a new housing company in the city WV Living, external which is being backed by a city council loan worth £40m.

    The authority's already identified land across the city for the project which could start as early as next year.

    Strictly Come Dancing head judge Len Goodman will appear on the show's 10th anniversary live tour, external when it opens in Birmingham next year, even though the upcoming series of the dancing competition will be his last. 

    Goodman will appear alongside fellow judge Craig Revel Horwood (pictured right), while former Strictly professional dancer Karen Hardy will serve as a guest judge.
