    A 101-year-old man - thought to be the oldest person convicted in British legal history - is this morning awaiting sentence for historical child sex offences.    

    A juror has been looking at Ralph Clarke's victims and crying. His victims have been crying too and a son of one of them, in the public gallery at Birmingham Crown Court, has also been in tears.

    The Justice Secretary will address MPs on the riot at HMP Birmingham which saw hundreds of inmates wreak havoc in the jail on Friday

    Liz Truss's speech in the Commons will come after another tough week which ended with the chairman of the Parole Board warning that the prison population must be reduced to avoid further rioting.

    There were also warnings that violence could spread to other jails with "simmering tensions" after 240 offenders were transferred from Birmingham.

    Andy Murray might have scooped BBC Sports Personality of the Year for a record third time, but let's not forget our very own winner.

    David Finney, who has been coaching at the Bridge Swimming Club in Redditch for 40 years, won the BBC Sports Unsung Hero award in the West Midlands.

    The energetic 83-year-old has also coached Redditch Swimming Club since 1972, oversaw a badminton club on Sundays and has helped out at Stonehouse Gang Youth Club in Birmingham since his teens in the 1940s.

    An 84-year-old jogger said he had a knife held to his throat by attackers who stole his car keys on parkland.

    Michael Sheehan said he had been kicked in the head, shoulders and ribs and robbed at knifepoint in Moseley, Birmingham.  

    He said he was very angry and it was now difficult to sleep.

    Police said they had reports a man had been approached on Thursday morning by up to four men who had taken his keys to steal his Skoda Octavia from a car park, but it had since been recovered.

    The future of Dudley Hippodrome has been secured after a long battle to save it from demolition.

    The keys are being handed over to Black Country Hippodrome Limited after the council agreed a five-year lease on the building. 

    The art-deco theatre opened in 1938 and then closed seven years ago. 

    Campaigners say they're confident they can make it financially viable.
