    The sentencing of Ian Paterson is due to start in just a few moments.

    There are around 30 victims here, there was quite the queue to get into the court room.

    The victims and their friends were the first to be let in followed by Paterson's family and friends.

    Press were then allowed in, seven jurors have also come back to witness the sentencing.

    There's easily 30 people that have been left outside.

    Paterson was found guilty of 17 counts of wounding patients with intent and three counts of unlawful wounding.

    Two teenagers have been charged after a schoolboy was stabbed in Wolverhampton.

    He remains in a critical condition following the attack which happened on Old Fallings Lane on Monday afternoon.

    The pair are due in court this morning accused of wounding.

    A third teenager, arrested in connection with the stabbing has been bailed pending further enquiries.

  4. 'Severe' house fire in Kings Nortonpublished at 10:22 British Summer Time 31 May 2017

    A "severe" fire in Kings Norton was started deliberately, the fire service said.

    It said "lots of resources" were needed to contain the fire in a row of derelict homes.

    It added eight appliances were needed and advised people to keep doors and windows closed.

    Refuse workers employed by Birmingham City Council have started voting in an industrial action ballot.

    They are accusing the council of "financial mismanagement" and an overspend £9.7m.

    Unite members say they are angry over proposed job cuts and attempts by council bosses to stop "long standing agreements with Unite covering staffing levels and working patterns."

    The BBC has contacted the council for comment.

  6. Two taken to hospital after being trapped in overturned carpublished at 10:10 British Summer Time 31 May 2017

    Two people have been taken to hospital after they were trapped for around 45 minutes in an overturned car.

    West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the junction of Shaw Road and Birmingham New Road in Bilston at 05:05 this morning.

    The driver of the car, a man, was treated for multiple serious injuries, including to his head and chest. He was anaesthetised at the scene.

    The second patient, a teenage girl was treated for cuts to her head and an arm injury.

  7. Breast surgeon Paterson due to be sentencedpublished at 09:43 British Summer Time 31 May 2017

    Shamed breast surgeon Ian Paterson is due to be sentenced later after he was found guilty of 17 counts of wounding patients with intent.

    Paterson, 59, from Altrincham, Greater Manchester, was also found guilty of three counts of unlawful wounding.

    Paterson carried out hundreds of needless operations on patients throughout his career, leaving many disfigured and traumatised following their experiences.

    He worked in the NHS at the Heart of England Trust - which runs Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull Hospitals with some patients operated on at the privately-run Little Aston and Parkway hospitals.

    Some victims are calling for the maximum punishment of life in prison.

    An art exhibition opens tonight, featuring work by an ex-Premier League footballer.

    The former Wolves centre-back Jody Craddock is one of 75 painters and sculptors whose work is on display at Ellesmere College until Sunday.

    He says he's been into art since his school days but has relished having more time after hanging up his boots.

    They say it's to stop Lloyd House being targeted in vehicle attacks.

    A pre-inquest review into the Birmingham pub bombings is to be held today.

    A coroner ordered fresh inquests into the deaths of 21 people killed in the atrocity, on the night of November 21, 1974.

    Julie Hambleton, who lost her sister Maxine in the bombings, says they need more time to prepare their case.

    Despite a detailed search at Lichfield Cathedral involving specialist officers and police dogs trained to detect explosives, "nothing of concern" has been found, Staffordshire Police say.

    The cathedral was evacuated at lunchtime after a member of the public reported someone acting suspiciously.

    Police said the current threat of terrorism was officially "severe" and that people "should always report any concerns to the police so we can assess the information and put in place the most appropriate response".

    Police are hunting two men, external who threatened a family with a machete and a wooden pole in their Birmingham home before they were forced to flee empty-handed.

    Detectives have released footage of two men they want to speak to following the burglary in Cole Valley Road, Hall Green at around 17:00 yesterday.

    The attackers knocked on the door and forced their way into the property before demanding money from the occupants.
