    Drayton Manor theme park in Staffordshire has been closed for a second day today after the death of a schoolgirl from Leicester.

    The Prince of Darkness, Ozzy Osbourne, has been unveiled as one of this year's participants in the annual event.

    BBC Music Day, which was established in 2015, celebrates music that "aims to unite communities and generations".  

    A surprise event will take place in Black Sabbath frontman Osbourne's hometown of Birmingham, with similar events taking place in the home cities of Shaun Ryder and Alfie Boe. 

    Elsewhere, Texas are playing with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra in a free concert from Glasgow's Barrowlands and more than 45 official new blue plaques will be unveiled to commemorate significant locations in music history.

    Each BBC local radio station has chosen one for their area.

  11. Longbridge fire doused by firefighters using a hydraulic platformpublished at 17:34 British Summer Time 11 May 2017

    A hydraulic platform has been sent to Longbridge to help extinguish a fire in the "partly-demolished chimney" of a "void factory and in the ventilation system on its roof".

    Initially four crews - around 20 firefighters - were sent to the scene after a man rang the service from his mobile to report the flames at around 15:30.

    That has since been reduced to three crews - around 15 firefighters - assisted by a hydraulic platform staffed by two people to bring the fire under control.

    Drayton Manor theme park says it will stay closed on Friday "to allow the Health and Safety Executive to complete their work" following the death of 11-year-old Leicester schoolgirl Evha Jannath who fell into water there on Tuesday.

    The attraction said its "thoughts continue to be with the family and all those who have been affected by Tuesday’s incident".

    West Bromwich Albion boss, Tony Pulis, has confirmed the club's interest in signing Leeds defender Charlie Taylor.

    Taylor, who's 23, is out of contract in June and set to leave Leeds after refusing to play in their final game of the season at Wigan.

    "He's been on our radar for a bit," said Pulis.

    "There are a lot of clubs interested. It could go to a tribunal but our club would rather try and sort a deal out with Leeds."
