    Drayton Manor Theme Park will remain closed for a second day running, while investigations continue into the death of a girl from Leicester.

    Evha Jannath, who was 11, died after she fell from the Splash Canyon river rapid ride during a school trip on Tuesday.  

    The theme park said it would remain closed to allow the Health and Safety Executive to carry out its investigations.

  2. Man charged with drone drug drop into Birmingham prisonpublished at 08:33 British Summer Time 11 May 2017

    A man has been charged with using drones to drop drugs and mobile phones into the grounds of HMP Birmingham in Winson Green.

    Michael Tovey is accused of using two drones to drop contraband into an exercise yard at the jail on 29 October and 6 November 2016.

    The 27-year-old, formerly of Lakes Road in Erdington, faces 13 charges of conveying banned items into prison and is due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on 7 June.

    Maria Sharapova will feature alongside eight of the world's top 10 if she accepts a wildcard for next month's Aegon Classic in Birmingham.

    BBC Sport understands Sharapova will be offered a wildcard for the grass-court event which will feature the strongest it has ever seen as of the current top 10, only Svetlana Kuznetsova and Serena Williams, who recently announced her pregnancy, are missing.

    The Russian, who returned from a 15-month doping ban last month, lost to Eugenie Bouchard in Madrid on Monday.

    Two teenagers have been spotted shooting at birds with a catapult in Wolverhampton. 

    The RSPCA are now looking to find out who the two boys are - and say killing wild birds can mean up to six months in prison and thousands of pounds in fines. 

    Six birds - four mallard ducks and two coots - were found dead near where the boys were seen along the Wyrley and Essington Canal, near Clanfield Avenue in Wednesfield, on 29 April.

    Tickets for West Bromwich Albion's final home game of the season against Chelsea - which could see the Blues crowned champions - have been spotted for sale on social media and online websites, prompting a warning from Hawthorns bosses.

    Baggies' chief executive Martin Goodman has highlighted ticket sales have rocketed in the past 36 hours for the 20:00 BST kickoff on Friday and Chelsea's 2,773 allocation has already sold-out.

    He said the club had no official ticket-selling partner and it was an offences to sell on home end tickets.

    In a £10 bet the man, from the Scottish Borders, chose seven league winners.

    Jessica Bridge from bookmakers Ladbrokes said accumulator bets "normally come agonisingly close but hit the crossbar in extra time".

    Aston Villa striker Scott Hogan`s injury is not as bad as at first feared. 

    Tests have revealed Hogan sustained a twisted ankle during the 1-1 draw with Brighton, but with no ligament or bone damage he should be fit for pre-season training in July.

    The funeral of Aston Villa legend Ugo Ehiogu was taking place in Highgate, London on Wednesday.

    The former defender and Tottenham Hotspur under-23 coach died last month at the age of 44 after collapsing at the Spurs' training centre where he worked. 

    He suffered a cardiac arrest.

    A fundraising page set up in memory of the ex-England international has raised more than £23,000.

    It was launched by his wife Gemma to help fund an equal opportunities charity, giving youngsters access to football and originally had the target of raising £1,000.

    The school an 11-year-old girl attended, who died on a school trip to Drayton Manor Theme Park yesterday, is closed today.

    A nearby mosque said prayers for the girl who has been named by police as Evha Jannath.

    In a must-win game, Warwickshire started well against Derbyshire.

    Led by Sam Hain's century, the Bears had advanced past 200 with only the loss of Jonathan Trott as Ian Bell and Hain played few false strokes to lay a good platform.

    Then I felt they must at least pass 300 in conditions that were as favourable for batting as these, to stand a chance of defending.

    The Bears lost quick wickets as they approached the end of their innings and have finished on 292/7. Will it be enough though?
