A doctor from Birmingham has been in the USA this weekend to share the results of the only NHS service in the UK that uses a special device to help diabetes patients lose weight.
Of the first 12 patients treated, nine managed to keep the weight off for a further year after the device - called an endobarrier - was removed.

A museum in Birmingham is set to welcome a judging panel later today as it bids to win a prestigious global prize.
The Lapworth Museum of Geology was shortlisted for the Art Fund Museum of the Year title, following a £2.7m regeneration last year.
It is home to one of the UK's most outstanding geological collections, including dinosaur bones, fossils and rocks.
The winner of the award will be announced next month.
