    The fire at an abandoned warehouse in Lichfield involving around 500 tonnes of waste was started deliberately, the fire service says. , external

    At its height, Staffordshire Fire Service had 65 firefighters at the blaze in the former GKN site at the Crossfield Industrial Estate.

    They say their investigation concluded this afternoon it was arson and they still have fire crews working to put the blaze out this evening, although it is under control.

    The service says, as a result, they're also still advising nearby people to stay indoors and keep doors and windows closed if they are affected by the smoke.

    The authority says businesses have already started working at Kingswood Lakeside in Cannock in the past few months.

    It says just three of the sites at the industrial estate, which is on a former opencast mining site, could create up to 800 jobs when they are fully up and running.

    A man has been jailed for six years, external after being found guilty of manslaughter, police say.

    Warwickshire Police say Vijay James Masih, 31, of Brook Road, Willenhall, Wolverhampton, threw a single punch at Robert Bavington, 29, outside Moo Bar in Leamington town centre last April.

    Mr Bavington was taken to hospital after falling to the ground and hitting his head where he later died from his injuries.

    Masih denied the charge but was found guilty by unanimous verdict at Warwick Crown Court, a statement released this afternoon says.

    A 27-year-old man arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences on Monday will continue to be questioned for a further seven days, say police.

    The man, who has not been named, was arrested in Walsall on suspicion of being concerned in the commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism.

    A spokesman for West Midlands Police says a warrant of further detention was granted on Tuesday.

    The West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit have up to seven days before charging, releasing, bailing or applying to court for a further extension of detention.

    A housing group that operates 40 tower blocks in Coventry and Birmingham has moved to reassure its residents following a huge blaze at a block of high-rise flats in West London.

    Whitefriars has insisted it has a "very strict system" in place to ensure "customers' safety".

    It's after at least six people died and dozens more were injured when a fire broke out at Grenfell Tower in the early hours of the morning.
