    People who own fish are being asked not to take them to the pools in parks across Birmingham.

    Birmingham City Council says, external it's had to remove 150 dead fish from Shenley Fields Pool as it wasn't deep enough to sustain them.

    It's thought they were bought in by third parties and costs the authority money.

    The loss-making M6 Toll has been sold to an Australian firm - which also owns several airports and a water company.

    IFM will hope to turn around the financial losses made by the road in recent years.

    The M6 Toll opened in 2003 - looking to ease congestion on the M6 through the Birmingham area.

    BBC Midlands Today asked one Toll road user what she thought of the change.

    She told our reporter: "I don't see that it would have a major impact on the day-to-day business whether it was owned by Australians, Americans, Chinese, as long as the standards are maintained."

    Birmingham City Council has joined a number of other councils reassuring tenants that the tower blocks are safe.

    In a statement on its website, the council said they inspect the blocks on a daily basis and they liaise closely with West Midland Fire service.

  6. Suspect in armed police manhunt in Bridgnorth arrestedpublished at 15:24 British Summer Time 15 June 2017

    One of the suspects police want to talk to in connection with a dangerous driving incident on Bridgnorth High Street, just over a week ago, has been arrested on suspicion of stealing a car.

    The 22-year-old was arrested on Wednesday night and remains in custody.

    The arrest is in relation to the theft of a car in Walsall at the end of May. The same car, a white peugeot 308 was driven in the wrong direction down Bridgnorth high street before being found abandoned in East Castle Street on June 7.

    The incident saw armed officers take to the streets and Whitburn Street was cordoned off for a time as a search for the car was started.

    One of the Midlands' most famous musicians has paid tribute to Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham (below right), as a blue plaque honouring him has been unveiled.

    It was put on the side of the house in Headless Cross in Redditch where the Led Zeppelin drummer was born.

    The Black Country Living Museum has been awarded nearly £10m to save a number of historic buildings from demolition.

    West Bromwich's Gas Showroom will be moved brick-by-brick to the Museum, along with Dudley's Woodside Library and Wolverhampton's Elephant & Castle Pub.

    The National Lottery money will create 450 jobs and double the number of collections on display.

    Residents in Sandwell are being reassured that the 55 council run high-rise blocks are safe.

    The council says all the blocks have automatic smoke ventilation systems, bin room sprinkler systems, bin chute cut-off slides and dry risers.

    In addition, for those blocks that have cladding the material used is designed not to spread fire and the insulation's Rockwool is totally inflammable.

    Over the last few weeks we've been asking you to nominate any local music legends you feel deserve an official blue plaque.

    Here in the West Midlands you've chosen is Nick Drake who was brought up in Tanworth-in-Arden near Solihull and died at the age of 26 in 1974.

    His music only really became famous after he died and the likes of REM, Kate Bush and Paul Weller have all said his music has been a massive influence them.

    A cyclist has died after being involved in an incident involving a car and and a van.

    West Midlands Ambulance Service said the man suffered "significant injuries" and received "considerable treatment" but died at the scene.

    It happened at 07:40 on Thursday on Bromsgrove Road, Romsley, near Halesowen.

    Cattle could be allowed to graze over Cannock Chase, external in the future as a way of maintaining the area.

    The county council has spent the past few months looking at ways to care for the site and its natural habitats.

    A building services company based in Birmingham carried out a contract with another firm to "provide Grenfell Tower with improved building services".

    A spokesperson for J S Wright said: "We are shocked by the catastrophic fire at Grenfell Tower in London and our thoughts are with the families, relatives and friends of all those affected by this tragic incident."

    "J S Wright carried out a contract with Rydon Maintenance last year to provide Grenfell Tower with improved building services.

    "Rydon Maintenance was in the process of refurbishing the building for Kensington and Chelsea Tenant Management Organisation on behalf of the Council.

    "Like everyone else at this stage, we are unaware of the causes of this fire but we will co-operate fully with all enquiries and investigations into this incident."

    A fire at an abandoned warehouse in Lichfield had less of an impact on the surrounding area because the fire service says it had already visited and risk assessed the site., external

    Staffordshire Fire Service say the blaze at the former GKN site at the Crossfield Industrial Estate, which involved around 500 tonnes of waste, was arson.

    They say it's the fourth such large fire involving illegal waste in the county in the last year.

    But they say they were able to minimise its impact because, having previously checked the site, they had a plan in place they used to tackle it.

    A man and a woman have been jailed after they robbed a blind pensioner.

    West Midlands Police say, external the lady was threatened and slapped across the face before the two assailants fled with cash swiped from a handbag.

    Sarah Mulholland, 34, and James Conlon, 28, were sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court to four years and eight years in prison respectively.

    Both initially denied the offence before Mulholland admitted involvement, with Conlon only entering a guilty plea on day one of his trial at Birmingham Crown Court.

    The 72-year-old victim recognised the tone of Mulholland's voice as she was a former resident at the shared accommodation block.

    Police praised the lady's "commitment and courage" in helping the force secure a conviction.
