A special service was held in Birmingham yesterday evening to mark the contribution that African and Caribbean servicemen made to the Allied forces during the First World War.
It was part of a Heritage Lottery-funded project which resulted in a touring exhibition and film.
Two men have been bailed following their arrest at Heathrow Airport on suspicion of terrorism offences.
The men, both 21, from Leicester and Birmingham, were detained just after 10:00 on Saturday having arrived on a flight from Turkey, West Midlands Police said.
They were later taken to the West Midlands for questioning on suspicion of preparing for terrorist acts.
The arrests were intelligence-led and there was no immediate threat to the public, the force said.
Police are appealing for information about the disappearance of Surjit Takha in 2008.

A fire safety officer in Coventry has told the BBC the system for regulating fire safety in tower blocks is "too complicated".
On a visit to a city tower block, Jonathan Herrick from West Midlands Fire Service told Radio Five Live's Wake Up To Money that the law as it pertains to tower blocks and domestic premises was a "very grey area" and created a "lot of interpretations".
The front doors of flats, he said, were of particular concern.
"You will find fire officers and fire authorities who will want to check the doors, and others who will not, but there isn't particularly a consistent approach to that because it is not clear in law."

West Bromwich Albion have signed England striker Jay Rodriguez from Southampton for a fee of about £12m.
The 27 year old has struggled with injuries in his five years at Saints, scoring 32 goals in 126 appearances.
His most prolific season was 2013-14, when he scored 15 Premier League goals and made his only England appearance.

West Midlands Fire Service is urging tower block residents to make sure they know what the evacuation procedures are in their building.
It's after an incident in Cleveland Tower in Holloway Head , externalin Birmingham on Saturday.
A fire is believed to have been started deliberately in a communal area.
Crews were at the scene within four minutes and said no one was hurt.

Some bins in Birmingham may not get emptied today due to industrial action.
Refuse collectors remain in dispute with the council over changes to the operation and there has been a two-hour stoppage from 06:00 this morning, plus a ban on overtime.
Council bosses say changes are essential to modernise the service. The Unite union claims it will cost more than 100 jobs.
Bin lorries will also be returning to depots for lunch and tea breaks.
A further four days of action are planned.
