  6. Man remanded into custody over Stourbridge stabbingpublished at 12:16 British Summer Time 8 August 2017

    A 19-year-old man has been charged with murder and remanded into custody following a fatal knife attack at Chicago's nightclub.

    Kobe Murray, 19, from The Broadway in Dudley, is charged with stabbed Ryan Passey, 24, in the chest.

    Two other 19-year-old men who were also arrested on Sunday have been released without charge.

    Mr Murray will appear before crown court later this week.

    A man has been charged with murder following a fatal attack in a Stourbridge nightclub.

    The victim, named as 24-year-old Ryan Passey, was stabbed during the early hours of Sunday.

    Amid the bin strike causing a stink in every sense, the account takes a rather light-hearted approach, saying "this has wheely bin going on too long. Strictly rubbish posts".

    The person behind it said he began after hearing Birmingham described on the national news as a tip.

    A woman stabbed multiple times is in a serious condition in hospital, police say.

    It happened on Monday afternoon on Providence Street in the Lye area of Dudley.

    The West Midlands force says a man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and believes the suspect and victim are known to each other.

    Campaigners calling for woodland to be reopened say they've got figures to prove the area is no more likely to attract crime than anywhere else.

    Uffmoor Woods near Hagley were closed in May following complaints of "dogging", drug dealing and out-of-control dogs.

    But people living nearby say they've discovered there've only been 28 incidents reported to the police in the last five years.

    The Woodland Trust says it's aware of other evidence of antisocial behaviour but insists work is underway to reopen the area for public use.

    Jamaica is teaming up with a health trust in Birmingham in a bid to boost the country's medical facilities.

    It's all part of the Caribbean nation's aim to develop health centres of excellence.

    It will work with the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust.

    A British model who was allegedly held captive by a gang in Italy was told she would be sold in the Middle East "for sex", her lawyer has said.

    Francesco Peschi also told the BBC how Chloe Ayling, 20, had been acting under duress when she was taken shopping by her captor before she was freed.

    Ms Ayling was allegedly kidnapped by a group calling itself Black Death before she was released five days later. She came home on Sunday, 26 days after she flew to Milan for a photo shoot.

    Investigations into the case are being carried out by authorities in Italy, Poland and the UK. Italian Police said they arrested a Polish national, Lukasz Herba, who lives in Oldbury, on suspicion of kidnapping offences.

  15. Woman's body recovered from waterpublished at 09:09 British Summer Time 8 August 2017

    The body of a woman has been found in water in Wednesbury.

    West Midlands Police said it was called to Woden Road South at 20:00 and the body of a woman was recovered.

    The force said the death was not being treated as suspicious.

  16. Hopes Knife Angel plinth plan grows wingspublished at 08:39 British Summer Time 8 August 2017

    A campaign to see the Knife Angel sculpture installed on the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square is being backed by the West Midlands Assistant Police and Crime Commissioner.

    Created at the British Ironwork Centre in Oswestry, it's made from 100,000 knives handed into the police.

    As things stand, it can't be displayed on the plinth - reserved for temporary artworks - after being turned down by the Mayor of London's office.

    Assistant PCC, and Coventry councillor, Lynette Kelly now intends to write to the mayor supporting the sculpture's inclusion.

  17. Two injured say police investigating Aston shootingpublished at 08:36 British Summer Time 8 August 2017

    Police called to an Aston street following reports of a man being shot say two teenagers have been injured.

    The pair - both 17 - were taken to hospital suffering injuries not thought to be life-threatening.

    Police - called to Manor Road at about 22:20 on Monday - are investigating what the West Midlands Force has described as a "firearms discharge".

    Those inquiries have lead to the sealing off of Manor Road and Witton Road, including Witton railway station. They remain sealed off this morning.

    Four people have been charged with conspiracy to supply heroin and cocaine as part of a crackdown on cross county drugs networks.

    Officers raided houses in Cheltenham and Birmingham over the weekend, retrieving quantities of cash and class A drugs.

    A man and a woman from Cheltenham were among those charged.
