    Neither Emily Scarratt (pictured) or Natasha Hunt are among the names with Harriet Millar-Mills the only Staffordshire starter.

    Big name player Scarratt is on the bench along with fellow Lichfield players Amy Cokayne and Justine Lucas.

    World champion in 2014 Natasha Hunt is not among the substitutes with head coach Simon Middleton saying he wants to use the full depth of his squad.

  2. Man dies after being hit by trainpublished at 09:40 British Summer Time 9 August 2017

    A man has been hit and killed by a train at a railway station near Birmingham.

    British Transport Police (BTP) said it was called to Marston Green station at 16:59 to reports of a person being struck by a train.

    Paramedics attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

    The 16:50 Birmingham New Street to London Euston service was involved in the fatality, a spokesman for BTP said. The death was not believed to be suspicious, he added.

    Tributes are being paid to a talented footballer who was stabbed during a night out in Stourbridge.

    Ryan Passey, 24, from Quarry Bank, Brierley Hill died after being attacked at Chicago's in the town in the early hours of Sunday morning.

    Shane Stevens was his manager at Wren's Nest FC, he described Mr Passey as "everyone's best friend" and says he'll be missed on and off the pitch.

    Kobe Murray, from The Broadway in Dudley, appeared at Birmingham Magistrates' Court yesterday.

    He was remanded in custody to appear at crown court tomorrow. Two others arrested over the death were released.

    Nouha Dicko scored the only goal as Wolves reached the second round of the EFL Cup with victory over Yeovil Town.

    Dicko fired narrowly over the angle of post and bar before heading in Jordan Graham's corner to put Wolves ahead.

    Wolves made nine changes from the side that beat Middlesbrough 1-0 on Saturday but struggled to test Yeovil keeper Artur Krysiak, with Willie Boly's off-target header the closest they came in the first half.

    Shots were fired on Winson Green Road at the junction of Norman Road at around 19:00 last night.

    West Midlands Police said part of the road is closed this morning while investigations are carried out.

    There have been no reported injuries.

    Edgbaston will host the first ever day/night Test match in the UK between England and West Indies.

    The first ever floodlit Test took place in Adelaide in 2015 when Australia beat New Zealand which attracted over 120,000 fans in the space of three days at the Adelaide Oval.

    Due to high demand, Edgbaston has had to increase its stadium capacity by 850 seats for each day of the test so how is the venue getting ready to host what will be an historic occasion, our reporter Simon Parker has been to Birmingham to find out:

    Gary Megson says his new role as assistant to West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis will be like being a golfer's caddie.

    Former Baggies boss Megson, 58, has not been involved in management since being sacked by Sheffield Wednesday in 2012.

    "I'm here because of Tony and hopefully for Tony," Megson told BBC WM.

    "I see my role as like a caddie for a golfer. If I am asked I will give my opinion, but Tony makes all of the decisions. He will pick the team and the way we play.

    Megson has returned to the Hawthorns 13 years after the end of a four-year stint as manager that saw him take the club into the Premier League for the first time.

    Floral tributes have been left in Solihull near to where a man was found with a fatal stab wound.

    Callum Lees, 20, was stabbed in the neck following a row at a flat in Kingshurst, police said. He was found in the street on Sunday and died in hospital.

    "You are the missing piece to our jigsaw. I'm not sure how we will continue without you."

  17. Travel: Lines blocked between Birmingham New Street and Internationalpublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 8 August 2017

    Emergency services are dealing with an "incident" near the railway between Birmingham New Street and Birmingham International, meaning all lines are blocked.

    London Midland says services may be delayed or cancelled by up to an hour, with disruption expected until 20:00.

  18. Five Greggs stores hit by machete-wielding robberpublished at 17:17 British Summer Time 8 August 2017

    Five Greggs stores across Birmingham have been targeted by a machete-wielding robber, police say.

    The robberies, according to the West Midlands force, were "traumatic" for staff who were threatened with violence, although unhurt.

    In all five, the offender struck at opening time, carrying a machete wrapped in a plastic bag and making off with cash.

  20. Multi-million pound scheme to improve M42published at 17:03 British Summer Time 8 August 2017

    Highways England has announced a £282m scheme to improve traffic flow on the M42.

    The work will take place near J6 near Solihull and is designed to ease congestion around Birmingham Airport and the NEC.

    Construction is expected to start in 2020 and last three years.
