    The college attended by a man killed in a bar stabbing at the weekend said it was shocked by his death.

    Ryan Passey, 24, died in hospital following an attack in Stourbridge on Sunday.

    In a Facebook post, external, Thorns Community College in Brierley Hill said many of his teachers remembered him "as a wonderful young man" who would be "greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him".

    West Midlands Police says, external its doubling the number of officers armed with Tasers.

    There are currently 643 officers who are trained to use them but that will increase to about 1,500 over the next 18 months.

    Chief Constable Dave Thompson says the change was recommended by security experts.

    The Moseley community where a 40-year-old man was stabbed in the street has been "shaken" by his death.

    He was found by police in Tenby Road on Sunday night and taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

    Wolves goalkeeper Carl Ikeme has thanked fans for their love and support as he battles acute leukaemia.

    His video message was played before Saturday's home game at Molineux against Middlesbrough​, where a fundraising push took place for the Cure Leukaemia​ charity.

    Refuse workers have been striking for the past six weeks in a dispute over changes to working practices. The council says it continues to work to shift the backlog of uncollected rubbish.

    William Turner, 73, has lived on Avon Street in Sparkhill for 34 years and says his waste hasn't been collected for three weeks.

    A Lichfield-based theatre group claims it's being priced out of performing at its venue of choice.

    The Garrick Youth Theatre company has been performing at the Garrick Theatre in the city for 14 years but it says bosses there have increased the hire fee by 65%.

    The group claims the rise means it would cost them £60,000 to stage a production.

    The theatre says the decision follows a 52% reduction in council funding.

    The police watchdog has launched an investigation after a woman alleges police ripped her baby son's ashes out of a teddy bear, scattering them during a search.

    Officers were searching her partner's flat in June in relation to a stolen laptop, her solicitors said but left empty-handed.

    Chelsea Wright, of Rugeley, says she was left "hysterical" when it happened and said she told the officers the bear contained her son Nathan's ashes.

    Murder detectives have arrested a 21-year-old Solihull man on suspicion of assisting an offender in connection with the fatal stabbing of Callum Lee, 20.

    Mr Lee was found collapsed in Haselour Road, Solihull, on Sunday with a stab wound to the neck.
