    A Black Country metal firm has invested £4m in a new manufacturing plant which will be officially opened later.

    The company has moved from its old site at which it had been based since 1954.

    A Perry and Co started in the 1920s making hinges and is now run by the fourth generation of the same family.

    Its products have been used on iconic buildings such as Wembley Stadium and Buckingham Palace.

    A man has been charged with the attempted murder of a 24-year-old man in Cannock.

    Staffordshire Police said the victim was assaulted in Danby Drive on Tuesday evening and is now in a stable condition.

    A 39-year-old from Cannock will appear before magistrates later.

  4. 'Neo-Nazi' trio due in courtpublished at 10:35 British Summer Time 21 September 2017

    Three men including two British soldiers are due to appear at the Old Bailey today charged with being members of a banned neo-Nazi group.

    L/Cpl Mikko Vehvilainen, Pte Mark Barrett and Sandwell man Alexander Deakin are accused of being part of National Action.

    Mr Deakin, 22, of Beacon Road, Great Barr, is further charged with distribution of a terrorist publication and two counts of possession of documents likely to be useful to a person preparing to commit an act of terrorism.

    The three men are due to appear via video link for a preliminary hearing.

    The role of the Bangladeshi community in Birmingham's curry boom is being celebrated in a new exhibition.

    Many of the restaurants were set up by immigrants fleeing from poverty and violence in Bangladesh in the 60s and 70s.

    Artist Mohammed Ali's Knights of the Raj is going on display at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery from Saturday.

    Police in the West Midlands have seized 2,500 knives and swords in a three-month period.

    The West Midlands force says the items are not from "knife bins" in which people are encouraged to surrender weapons but taken off people during arrests and searches.

    The Today programme has been shown previously unpublished research commissioned by West Midlands Police which tells the force some uncompromising truths about why its efforts to bring knife crime under control aren’t reaching a crucial group of young people.
