    The train,which broke down at Blake Street has now been moved and all lines reopened, the National Rail website reports.

    Trains between Birmingham New Street and Lichfield Trent Valley may still be delayed by up to 15 minutes or cancelled while services return to normal. Disruption is expected to continue until approximately 13:30.

    I'm at the High Court for the ruling on redundancy notices issued by Birmingham City Council on more than a hundred refuse workers.

    Unite is fighting the move and Mr Justice Fraser is reading out his judgement in the case.

    Extracts from an email from interim chief executive Stella Manzie to former leader John Clancy on 15 August said the authority cannot look weak.

    The action was suspended the next day when conciliation service Acas said the council had agreed certain posts would not be made redundant.

    Mr Clancy later resigned over his handling of the row and after claiming there was no deal in place.

    Workers have been on strike since 30 June and action is currently taking the form of three separate hours of stoppages a day.

    On Monday they voted to continue their action, which is likely to take place for another 12 weeks should it go ahead.

    A High Court judge is beginning his ruling on an interim injunction application by Unite against redundancy notices issued by Birmingham City Council.

    The union wants Mr Justice Fraser to block the council-issued notices that went out to more than 100 refuse workers last month.

    Workers have been on strike since 30 June and action is currently taking the form of three separate hours of stoppages a day.

    The authority said all the workers were being offered other roles and it needs modernise the service.

    The incident took place in the Brindley Place area during the early hours of Saturday, 29 July.

    Police are looking to speak to three men who were in the area at the time of the attack.

    Warwickshire's Jeetan Patel scored his third Bears century to rescue the side from their poor start against Yorkshire at Headingley yesterday.

    Patel's ton helped Warwickshire to reach 219 all out.

    It means the home side will resume play at 10:30 this morning on 62 for 1.

    A man is in a critical condition after he was stabbed in the stomach, police say.

    The incident happened on Danby Drive, Cannock, yesterday evening.

    The victim is in hospital and a 39-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm.

  10. Bin dispute: Improvement panel to remainpublished at 09:15 British Summer Time 20 September 2017

    A panel tasked with overseeing improvements at Birmingham City Council will continue due to the ongoing bin dispute.

    In August the panel said it would stand down after being satisfied the council could continue under its own steam.

    But in light of the bin strike, panel chairman John Crabtree said it would "remain in place".

    The city's Conservative opposition leader said things were "worse now than they have ever been".

    The improvement panel was set up following an inquiry into the so-called Trojan Horse letter and struggling council services.
