    A pregnant prisoner is "unlawfully at large" after escaping from hospital.

    Sefora Tanase is a prisoner at Foston Hall - police have said they "urgently" need to find her as there is concern for her safety.

    The 19-year-old woman is in the latter stages of pregnancy. She is of Romanian nationality and has strong links to the Birmingham area.

    Hundreds of patients are on the waiting list for the "ultimate gift" of a heart transplant this Christmas.

    One of the young people in need of a transplant is student Jim Lynskey, who said it was "gutting" he has not yet had one.

    The 22-year-old from Birmingham had a meningitis virus infection in his heart when he was a child which caused it to fail.

    He's temporarily off the transplant list while recovering from an operation and said: "I can't receive a transplant this Christmas but there are around 300 people on the heart transplant waiting list who desperately need that ultimate gift.

    "I really want everyone to tell their families 'I want to save lives by donating'."

    Safety patrols are to operate along the River Severn in Shrewsbury for the first time this Christmas.

    Teams of West Mercia Search and Rescue volunteers will patrol the river to ensure the safety of people celebrating the festive season nearby.

    They advise people to plan journeys home which do not pass close to the water.

    The funeral takes place today of taxi driver Imtiaz Mohammed, one of six people killed in a car crash in Birmingham on Sunday.

    A former soldier from Telford, who was found sleeping rough in Cardiff, has returned to Shropshire and been helped to get a roof over his head.

    A tattoo artist in Stoke-on-Trent who gathers donated toys and delivers them as gifts to families in need says this year is his busiest yet.

    For the past seven years, Jason Powner from Smallthorne, external has been wrapping up hundreds of presents that people and businesses in the city have donated.

    He says he then delivers them to nominated families who have lost relatives or jobs.

    The Bulls have been in discussions with Herefordshire Council for some time, but have now come to an agreement over the new deal that the club can trigger when they choose to do so.

    The club says it allows for future redevelopment of the stadium as part of a wider planned revamp of the surrounding area.

    Coventry City Council denies "bailing out" the developer of its new headquarters, despite investing £10m in the company.

    The local authority has announced it's going into partnership with the Irish-based developers, Friargate Coventry LLP.

    The scheme, which still hasn't got a major tenant, will also get £50m from the West Midlands Combined Authority to build a second tower block at the site by the railway station.

    Jim O'Boyle, the cabinet member for jobs and regeneration, said the decision was about "investing in the future to create jobs and housing" rather than a handout to a struggling developer.

    More hospital beds have been opened in Stoke-on-Trent and north Staffordshire to help ease what bosses are calling "significant pressure" on the local health service.

    NHS managers at the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Partnership NHS Trust say staff have been making "heroic efforts" to treat patients.

    The trust opened Brighton House in Silverdale, a short stay nursing facility, earlier this month.

    It's announced this morning that it'll also open the Jackfield Ward at the Haywood Hospital on New Year's Day while 12 beds will open at St George's Hospital, Stafford , externalon Thursday.
