    2. It would put Channel 4 in the middle of a young and diverse society
    3. A national institution such as Channel 4 needs to reflect the regions - not just London

The Conservative mayor said "minds are opening" to the idea of relocating and says the area has a "great record" of bringing big companies to the area including HSBC and the HS2 headquarters.

    Quote Message

Now is really the time to put our case to Channel 4 and the government. We have said to the board that we will make this a smooth relocation but that's the next part of the debate. The first part of it, is us saying 'you should be here because it's in the national interest that we are spreading these resources out of London'."

    Andy Street, West Midlands Mayor

Mr Street said his team were talking to the government, individual ministers and the Channel 4 board in the coming weeks "to say what a great offer we have got here".

He said it was "between London and the West Midlands".
