    Shrewsbury Town manager Paul Hurst said his players were left almost "deflated" despite holding West Ham to a goalless draw to force an FA Cup third round replay.

    "To their credit," he said, "they did extremely well but if we'd had just that little bit of quality and we may have got through. So it's mixed feelings really.

    "But we have a replay to look forward to. We know it will be tough. They will be at home, more comfortable in their own stadium."

    There's a suspected case of dog-killing disease Alabama Rot in the Lickey Hills area of Birmingham.

    Birmingham Dogs Home said it's had reports of an unconfirmed case of the disease.

    The charity Stop Alabama Rot said three dogs had died recently in the West Midlands - in Cannock, Edgbaston and Alsager in Cheshire.

    The cause of the disease, which first occurred in the UK in 2012, is still unknown.

    Three men who forced a 14-year-old girl into prostitution and "plied her with drugs" are due to be sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court today.

    Jake Cairns, 21, Brandon Sharples, 20 and Jack McInally, 21 - all from Coventry - were found guilty of child sexual exploitation offences in November.

    A man's due in court today accused of murdering a teenager whose body was found in a wardrobe wrapped in clingfilm.

    Ashley Foster, 24, is alleged to have killed Megan Bills up to three weeks before her remains were discovered in Brierley Hill last May.

    Foster, of no fixed address, denies murder and is set to be tried at Wolverhampton Crown Court.

    A maternity unit in Oswestry, Shropshire, was closed last night because of staff sickness less than a week after being reopened.

    Women due to give birth at the unit were contacted by the hospital trust on Friday evening to advise them of the closure.

    Three rural maternity units were closed for six months in July due to staff sickness and a drop in the number of midwives prepared to work overtime.

    The centre is expected to reopen this morning.

    A man has been charged with the murder of a 16-year-old boy who was found stabbed in Oxford.

    The teenager - believed to be from Birmingham - was found near a children's playground in Friars Wharf on Wednesday.

    Craig Ford, 33, of Luther Street, Oxford, has been charged with murder.

    Mr Ford is also accused of robbery, possession of a bladed article and possession with intent to supply class A drugs, police said.

    The Sky Blues manager Mark Robins says the team's FA cup success will help the promotion campaign.

    Coventry are into this evening's fourth round draw after beating Premier League Stoke City 2-1 at the Ricoh Arena.

    Robins is hoping the next round will generate more revenue for the club.

    A cyclist is seriously ill in hospital after being hit by a car that police said had failed minutes earlier to stop for traffic officers in Birmingham.

    The 19-year-old was hit at about 16:30 on Sunday on Moorside Road, Yardley Wood, close to the junction of The Centreway.

    The car drove off after the crash which has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (formerly the IPCC).

    The family of a man found stabbed to death in a Dudley flat at the weekend is appealing for anyone with information about the killing to come forward.

    Jaskaran Kang, 24, was pronounced dead at a property in Stourbridge Road after police were called at 02:30 on Saturday.

    In a statement released by West Midlands Police, Mr Kang's family said "we just want justice", adding: "He was a lovely and caring hard-working father, son and brother who has been taken too soon."
