    No-one was hurt, officers said.

    A 28-year-old man from Liverpool has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

    It's the third annual Staffordshire Day - the county's celebration of itself.

    The first took place in 2016 to mark 1,000 years since the county was first mentioned in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle.

    Members of the public chose 1 May as the date because it coincided with the day the first Wedgwood pottery factory opened - in 1759.

    This year, the county council's encouraging people to share photos on Twitter of themselves with a Staffordshire-made mug, external.

    It is also holding a celebration of the Staffordshire oatcake.

    Shrewsbury police say they're investigating at Nesscliffe Country Park, external and say they're not sure whether the material is designed to be an attack on horses or bike riders but, if deliberate, is an "extremely dangerous activity".

    Officers say they're working to get patrols in the area.

    The Court of Appeal's been told by a terminally-ill man that he shouldn't have to undergo a "distressing and undignified" death.

    Noel Conway, a retired college lecturer who lives in Shropshire, has motor neurone disease and wants to be helped to die.

    He's appealing against the High Court's rejection of his challenge to the Suicide Act 1961 - under it, anyone who assisted Mr Conway to die would be liable to up to 14 years in prison.

    Mr Conway is too unwell to travel to London for the hearing and says in a statement he only has movement in his right hand, head and neck.

    His lawyers say the current law interferes with his rights and the three appeal judges must decide whether that interference is "justified and proportionate".

    The appeal is expected to last for three days.

    Cafe owners in Hereford are being urged to consider staying open later into the evening as council leaders try to improve the city's nighttime economy.

    The authority says many of the venues shut at about 18:00 and it's hoped that by trading later, they could help provide an alternative to pubs.

    The council's decided to write to them and hopes a busy schedule of events this summer will encourage businesses to take advantage.

    They include the Hereford River Carnival, external later this month and the Three Choirs Festival, external in July and August.

    A fire which left a man and a woman with burns is thought to have started when "smoking materials" were dropped near nail varnish remover., external

    The fire service says the blaze then ignited some of the soft furnishings at the house on Grangewood Road, Stoke-on-Trent, on Friday night.

    The pair tried to put it out but only knocked more of the nail polish remover on the flames, spreading them to other items and, panicking, threw them out a window.

    Firefighters say they only suffered minor burns.

    Tickets for the party to celebrate Wolves' promotion to the Premier League on 7 May have sold out.

    The 30,000 free tickets became available at 10:00 and were snapped up in 50 minutes, the council said.

    The Land Rover is celebrating its 70th birthday this week.

    The vehicle was devised in times of post-War metal shortages and Britain's need to export goods to the world.

    To get round the shortages, brothers Spencer and Maurice Wilks stitched together the early models with cast-off strips of steel and aluminium.

    Used mainly by farmers and the Ministry of Defence, the company strengthened the Land Rover's off-road capabilities and - recognising the potential of the on-road market - launched the Range Rover in 1970.

    It's since sold more than 7m vehicles.

    Jaguar Land Rover has bases in Coventry and Birmingham.

    A disability rights group claims people appealing over their disability benefits have been left intimidated and frightened by security checks at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre.

    STAND, the Stoke-on-Trent Area Network for Disability, says it's been contacted by people going to tribunals to challenge decisions about their Personal Independence Payments.

    It says they are sometimes searched by poorly-trained security staff who don't properly understand their needs.

    The Ministry of Justice says it regularly reviews its courts over access for disabled people and has met with STAND and will work with it over improving access in the future.

    A woman says she'd given up hope of getting back her seven-month-old puppy after she was taken in a burglary.

    Phoebe, a French bulldog, was stolen when three masked men burst into a house on Portland Street in Hereford on 26 March, police said.

    They threatened three people inside with a knife and pepper spray.
