    Construction on the Free at Last centre in Nechells was left half-complete last year when the main contractor got into financial difficulties.

    An extra £400,000 was found to enable children to enjoy the centre's state-of-the-art facilities.

    The family of a man stabbed to death outside a Birmingham pub are taking their campaign against knife crime to Westminster.

    Daniel Baird, 26, was stabbed near The Forge Tavern in Digbeth early on 8 July last year.

    To date, nobody has been charged over his death.

    His family will meet a Home Office minister to share their ideas for tackling knife crime.

    A pedestrian suffered serious leg injuries when he was hit by a car in Oldbury last night, the ambulance service said.

    Emergency services were called to Wolverhampton Road, near to the Ramada Hotel, shortly before 23:00.

    An ambulance service spokesperson said , externalthe man, believed to be in his 50s, was taken to hospital also suffering from minor head and chest injuries.

  4. Callum Cartlidge: Inquest continuespublished at 09:17 British Summer Time 1 May 2018

    An eight-year-old boy from Redditch died after doctors failed to pick up that he had a life-threatening condition, an inquest has heard.

    Callum Cartlidge died in March last year, less than 24 hours after being sent home from Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

    A post-mortem exam found out he had Addison's disease, leading to a hormone shortage.

    The inquest continues today.

    Ticket acceptance is also in place on National Express bus routes.

    A terminally-ill man - who suffers from motor neurone disease - is beginning a Court of Appeal challenge against a "blanket ban" on assisted dying.

    Noel Conway, a retired Telford college lecturer who lives in Garmston, wants to be helped to die when the time comes without those who help him facing prosecution.

    Last year, the High Court rejected his challenge to the Suicide Act 1961 which he argues breaches his right to a "peaceful and dignified death".

    In January two judges from the Court of Appeal said there should be a full hearing of 68-year-old Mr Conway's case.

    The A45 London Road is congested back to A423 Oxford Road and there’s congestion on the A46 back to Rugby Road.

    The RSPCA has condemned the use of airguns after three geese were shot and killed in the West Midlands.

    The charity has received about 900 calls related to air gun attacks on animals in the past year.

    The birds were found last week around Wolverhampton Street in Walsall.
