    A woman has been charged by police following a serious assault in Stoke-on-Trent on Friday.

    Staffordshire Police say officers were called to Fenpark Road at about 14:30 after a man was found with knife wounds to his arm and back. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

    Vicky Ludlow, of North Malvern Road, Malvern, was charged with one count of wounding with intent.

    The 37-year-old woman is due to appear at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on 21 May.

    The Attorney General has been asked to consider whether the sentence of a speeding driver who killed two boys while on cocaine is too lenient.

    Brothers Corey and Casper Platt-May - aged six and two - died when they were hit by a car in Coventry in February.

    Robert Brown, 53, of Attwood Crescent in Wyken, Warwickshire, admitted two counts of causing death by dangerous driving and jailed for nine years.

    Brown, who has never held a valid licence, had 30 previous convictions for driving offences, Warwick Crown Court heard.

    The government has said , externalthose who cause death by dangerous driving could face sentences equivalent to manslaughter, with maximum penalties raised from 14 years to life.

    Telford has been "unfairly condemned" in reports of child sexual exploitation (CSE) on the basis of "flimsy" figures, according to the head of the local safeguarding board.

    The Mirror claimed about 1,000 children could've been abused in the town over the last 40 years.

    Last week, it came under fire again regarding the number of children thought to be involved.

    The national newspaper says it worked on the case for 18 months and stands by its journalism.

    Academic Liz Kelly was quoted by the Sunday Mirror in its original article, but she's since distanced herself from the figures.

    In a letter to Telford & Wrekin Council, Prof Kelly said the figure was "not accurately represented".

    Coventry's Ricoh Arena has been recreated using 45,000 toothpicks.

    Shaminder Singh, 34, from Wyken, has developed a reputation for models of famous sporting venues, with the Ricoh one taking 900 hours and six months to complete.

    Other materials used included plastic for the roof, electrics and lighting for the floodlights, and varnish. The signs were also made and imported from India.

    The model maker has previously built a tiny Old Trafford, a miniature stadium and Wimbledon Centre Court.

    Highways England is under fire as yet more roadworks start on the M5 in Worcestershire.

    The latest project - to upgrade junction 6 at Sixways is set to last for an entire year - with fears businesses will be hit hard by diversions and congestion.

    Initial work began earlier this year, with the main work starting on 30 April, lasting until Spring 2019.

    Last year, work saw repairs begin on the Oldbury Viaduct between junctions 1 and 2 which has caused delays to motorists on the M5 and M6.

    Some motorists say they've not been informed very well about what's happening.

    However, there could be a silver lining to this particular cloud, according to Dave Throup from the Environment Agency, external.

    He says the jet stream is expected to move north later this week, meaning higher pressure and higher temperatures for the bank holiday.

    Investigations are continuing into a house fire in Nantwich which left a woman needing hospital treatment.

    Firefighters tackled the blaze at a house on Wynche Avenue at about 17:00 on Thursday after reports of a bedroom fire.

    Two lorries were involved in a crash near Alvechurch, causing long delays for motorists.

    Kenilworth residents say they're "absolutely delighted" the first rail passenger services are finally running from the town's new station.

    An ambulance crew came under attack even as they treated a patient in the back of an ambulance, West Midlands Ambulance Service has revealed.

    The vehicle is expected to remain out of action until tomorrow after its wing mirror was broken in Wildwood in the Woodside area of Telford at about 1:20 this morning, external.

    Joy Hughes said she and her colleague were shocked to come under attack, but got away safely.

    The experience "must have been terrifying" for the patient in the ambulance, a West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said.

    They added that CCTV from the ambulance was being checked and passed on to police.

    The ambulance service is also calling for anyone with information to come forward.

    One lane has reopened on the M42 southbound after a crash, involving two lorries, caused a large fuel spillage.

    Although traffic is passing the site, drivers are being warned of delays in the area.
