    The start of play's been delayed at Edgbaston in Warwickshire's One-Day Cup match with Northamptonshire.

    It was due to start at 14:00 but the club now say there'll be pitch inspection at 15:00 , externaland, with the rain having stopped, their ground staff are working hard to get the match started.

    The Solicitor General has referred the sentence handed to the driver who killed Corey and Casper Platt-May from Coventry to the court of appeal.

    Robert Brown was given nine years in jail after admitting causing death by dangerous driving - he'd taken cocaine and was driving at twice the speed limit.

    At the time, Warwick Crown Court heard Brown had 30 previous convictions for driving without a licence or insurance.

    The Court of Appeal will decide if the sentences was unduly lenient.

    No date has been set for the hearing.

    Paul Rowley, 53, from Stoke-on-Trent, hit a stationary Vauxhall Corsa at the junction of Nursery Street, Water Street and Foden Street in the city.

    Police say he died at the scene and they're supporting his family.

    Channel 4's planning three "creative hubs" outside of London with the largest to become its HQ.

    Tim Pile, chair of Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership, says the shortlisting is "a clear sign of confidence in the region, external".

    Stoke-on-Trent's made the shortlist to be a creative hub and both Stoke Central MP Gareth Snell , externaland city council deputy leader Abi Brown, external say they're "delighted".

    But Leamington's MP Matt Western's tweeted, external that he's "disappointed" that his town's not on either shortlist.

    Port Vale have had a bid for Chesterfield striker Kristian Dennis turned down.

    The Spireites manager Martin Allen said the bid was "not enough" for the transfer listed player, who scored 21 goals last season.

    British Army personnel have been meeting zoological experts at West Midlands Safari Park, ahead of an anti-poaching mission to Malawi.

    They're due to train park rangers on techniques to protect threatened species.

    The soldiers are due to pass on expertise such as tracking and counter insurgency tactics, which were used in operational tours in countries including Afghanistan.

    Channel Four has included Coventry, Stoke-on-Trent and Birmingham on a shortlist of possible locations for its new offices outside London.

    The broadcaster is looking to set up three "creative hubs" outside the capital, with the largest of the three becoming its HQ, with offices, a studio, a base for daily programmes and a new digital production unit.

    A final announcement on which sites have been chosen will be made at the end of 2018, with the move expected to take place next year.

  9. Coventry parade to give fans chance to see playerspublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 30 May 2018

    The route for today's Coventry City bus parade has been designed to give as many people as possible a chance to see the players, without having to travel into the city centre.

    It sets off at the club's Ryton training ground at 17:00 and is due to arrive at Broadgate at about 18:30, for a civic reception.

    Coventry's Lord Mayor, John Blundell, also said they wanted to hold the parade this week because "It's important to do it quickly because the city players deserve a break".

    Towns and cities across the West Midlands are set to find out today if they will make the shortlist to be named the new home of Channel 4.

    The company says it wants to move 300 staff to three hubs outside London, one being its new national headquarters.

    Among the locations to declare an interest already are Birmingham, Stoke-on-Trent, Coventry and Leamington Spa.

    The broadcaster is expected to release a shortlist later today.

    A decision on the new hubs' locations is expected later this year and it is intended they will open in 2019.

    A number of independent shop owners in Crewe have told BBC Radio Stoke they feel they've been unfairly treated by Cheshire East Council.

    Many shops on Queensway and Victoria Street reach the end of their lease with the local authority this month, as it prepares for the new Royal Arcade development.

    The council bought the shopping area in 2015 and wants to revamp it to the tune of £48.3m, external, building a cinema, gym, shops, a new bus station and car park.

    The owners of the shops claim they've been told to leave but some larger, chain stores haven't.

    Cheshire East Council says it doesn't comment on individual negotiations but all tenants were made aware of the Royal Arcade plans and the implications for them three years ago.

  12. Council unhappy with preferred hospitals optionpublished at 12:00 British Summer Time 30 May 2018

    Proposals to make the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital the centre for emergency medicine in Shropshire are being opposed by Telford and Wrekin Council, which says those services should be in Telford instead.

    The authority has said that it would prefer to keep a full accident and emergency department at both sites, but if this isn't possible, having emergency care in Telford would be the best option to "serve the growing population of Telford and east Shropshire".

    The council also disagrees over the relative costs of the two options, saying making Telford the home of emergency care will "cost less to run in the longer term".

    And it has argued it would be a mistake to move specialist women and children's services back to Shrewsbury, just four years after the opening of the £28m Women and Children's Centre in Telford.

    Two alternative models are included in the consultation being put to people in Shropshire and mid Wales, external, with a recommendation of moving emergency care to Shrewsbury and planned operations to Telford.

    West Midlands Police says officers were called to Langley Road, Merry Hill, last night to reports of disorder involving a group of youths.

    They found a 15-year-old boy with serious injuries and he was taken to hospital, but died a short while later.

    Part of the road's still sealed off and officers say they are checking CCTV to try to find out who's behind the knife attack.

  15. Shrewsbury preferred as site for emergency carepublished at 11:30 British Summer Time 30 May 2018

    People in Shropshire are being presented with two options for the future of hospital services in the county - but the consultation documents recommend Shrewsbury as the best site for emergency care.

    A review of the options, costing millions of pounds and taking more than four years, says that doing things this way around, with planned operations based in Telford, would be the "best value for money over the long term" and "easier for most older people" in Shropshire and mid Wales.

    The Future Fit consultation document also says Shrewsbury has a history of treating the most seriously injured people and that fewer people across Shropshire and mid Wales have to travel long distances to get to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

    There could be more heavy rain to come this week for the West Midlands.

    The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, external for thunderstorms tomorrow from 11:00 until midnight, covering most of the region.

    It follows severe weather a few days ago that in some places saw a month's worth of rain fall in just an hour.

    Two boys have been arrested over a suspected arson attack at a sports club in Warwickshire.

    The fire at Arley Sports Centre on Oak Avenue started between 19:30 and 19:52 on Friday.
