    Collapsed construction giant Carillion is being investigated over allegations of insider dealing in shares, it has emerged.

    The Wolverhampton-based firm went into administration in January, after accumulating a £1.5bn debt pile.

    The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), which is investigating events that led up to the firm's collapse, disclosed in a letter to Labour MP Frank Field that it is "looking into" claims of insider dealing.

    "We are also considering whether earlier announcements made by Carillion were false or misleading," the letter from FCA chief Andrew Bailey reads.

    Buskers who play too loudly in Stratford-upon-Avon are to be dealt with under a new code of conduct drawn up by local businesses.

    The town's Stratforward Business Improvement District (BID) said some musicians, using amplification, had been having a "negative impact" on local businesses.

    BID director, Joe Baconnet said the new policy, will help rid the town of buskers "who don't want to listen, and believe its their right to play like it's Wembley Stadium".

    "We'll have a greater level of monitoring," he said, and people who don't adhere to the new code will first receive a warning, which could eventually lead to a community protection notice.

    A police cordon has now been removed from the lake in Stoke-on-Trent after the body of Ryan Evans was found last night.

    Flowers and tributes have been left for the 13-year-old at Westport Lake.

    One reads: "Fly high with the angels Ryan, may you rest in peace."

    Another says: "You will be missed by all of us, and I hate to see you go so soon, fly high buddy."

    Rescue crews had been searching for the 13-year-old since he and two other boys were spotted "in distress" on Monday.

    A student from Birmingham whose depression and eating disorder "reached crisis point" after starting university, said she felt "abandoned".

    Universities are being told to "dramatically improve" support for students with mental health issues, by the government, which is calling for new standards of care.

    Holly Moyse, 24, said she was initially offered counselling by the University of Derby, but once she had used them up, they suggested where she could follow up and left her to her own devices.

    Holly eventually went to A&E, which passed her on to mental health teams who provided help, and the university has now implemented new classes and training for staff on the issue.

    Traffic has been held up on both the north and southbound carriageways of the M6 in the West Midlands this morning, after reports of dustbins and lawn mower parts on the carriageways.

    All debris has now been removed.

    Fish are again being rescued from the River Teme in north Herefordshire, which is drying out in the heatwave.

    More than 130 trout and salmon have been taken out of the stretch close to the Shropshire border, the Environment Agency says.

    Support is being given to students and staff at the school attended by Ryan Evans, whose body was found at Westport Lake.

    Rescue crews had been searching for the 13-year-old since he and two other boys were spotted "in distress" at the Stoke-on-Trent lake, on Monday.

    In a tweet, external, the force confirmed they had found Ryan's body following an extensive search for him.

    A statement from Haywood Academy, said professional support would "continue to be available" to those at the school.

    "Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time," it said.

  9. Bottled water stations set up 'as a precaution'published at 07:39 British Summer Time 28 June 2018

    It was a third consecutive night of no water or low pressure for people in Much Wenlock, Shropshire.

    Water supplies have been restored, Severn Trent says, external, but bottled water stations are being set up in the town, "as a precaution".

    Recent problems in Much Wenlock, Telford, Whitchurch and Stafford have all been caused by air locks - pockets of air getting into the system during high demand and blocking water mains.

    Children in east Cheshire are being admitted to hospital with mental health conditions almost twice as often as elsewhere in England.

    Public Health England (PHE) figures show a rise in the number of 0-17-year-olds admitted across the borough in 2016-17, compared with the year before.

    Across the Cheshire East Council area in 2016-17, there were 155.1 hospital admissions for mental health issues per 100,000 population, up from 113.4 the year before.

    The PHE figures show the national average for 2016-17 was 81.5 per 100,000 people.

    A fresh appeal is being made for information about the murder of a Birmingham pensioner who was beaten and robbed in his own home.

    Arthur "Bob" Gumbley, 87, was found lying on the floor at his home in Endwood Drive, Sutton Coldfield, on the evening of 21 November.

    He died in hospital from his injuries.

    The attack will be featured on the BBC's Crimewatch Roadshow at 11:00 on BBC One, as it comes live from the Staffordshire police headquarters.
