Expert Tooling and Automation, which makes car-building machinery at its plants in Coventry and the north east, is opening a 200,000 sq ft plant in Hefei, in the Anhui province.
It's expected the new plant will employ about 200 staff by the end of 2019, doubling the current workforce.
The new plant will boost electric vehicle production in China, the company said.

County councillors are calling on the Lord Chancellor and Justice Secretary to reverse the "deplorable" transfer of remand cases from Hereford to Kidderminster.
Her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service moved remand cases to Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court in April this year.
Councillor Chris Chappell said justice was being compromised since this move and it has made it more difficult for people without their own transport to attend court.
A spokesperson for HM Courts and Tribunals Service said the move was made "to improve listings and trial management at Hereford".

A man has appeared in court charged with murder over an attack outside a Wetherspoon pub.
Police found 31-year-old victim Matthew Powney when they were called to reports of a fight outside The Malthouse on New Road, Willenhall, Walsall, last Monday.
He died in hospital later that day.
Shaun Addison, 27, of Furzebank Way, Willenhall, accused of his murder and the wounding of another man, was remanded in custody at Wolverhampton Crown Court today.

Reverend Brian Evans who led the service said 13-year-old Ryan loved sport, playing on his X-Box and his beloved football club Port Vale.

There are calls for a USA army unit based in Birmingham at the end of World War Two to be honoured.
Eight hundred African American women, known as the Six Triple Eight, were brought to England to tackle a huge backlog of mail which was preventing vital post getting to the troops fighting Nazi Germany.

A 77-year-old man has been sentenced to two years and nine months in prison for historical sex offences against a boy at church events in Oswestry.
Christopher Moore-Bridger, from Orchard Street in the town, admitted a string of indecent assaults against Gareth Wyn Stephens, which began when the victim was 10 years old.
Mr Stephens took his own life earlier this year at the age of 41, the court heard.
Sentencing Moore-Bridger at Shrewsbury Crown Court today, judge Anthony Lowe, told the court that there had probably been 50 to 200 assaults over a four to five-year period.
A statement from the Lichfield Diocese said it took the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults "very seriously".
"We are deeply saddened when the Church has failed to be a safe and nurturing environment, as was clearly the case here."
A 19-month-old boy died in hospital after being hit by a van in Billesley on Friday.

A market is set to open tomorrow after human remains discovered on the site were reinterred.
Work on the outdoor market on Cleveland Street, Wolverhampton, stopped after the find, believed to be related to an 18th Century chapel, which formerly stood on the site.
Twelve sets of remains were disturbed by the works and removed by archaeologists after permission was granted by the Ministry of Justice to exhume them.
The removed remains were reinterred at one of the city's cemeteries and contractors worked weekends to make sure the market could open as planned, the council said.

In April, services were moved from Princess House in Shrewsbury town centre, to Elizabeth House in the grounds of Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
Simon Wright, chief executive of the local NHS trust says it relocated the blood service due to a rent hike of £32,000, which put "additional pressure" on the trust.
People are now being consulted, with the majority wanting the service reinstated in town, he said.

Five teenagers arrested following the death of a 17-year-old in Hereford on Friday morning have been released under investigation.
Paramedics said they were called to reports of an unconscious patient on Old School Lane, at the junction with Kingsway.
Police said the boy was taken to Hereford Hospital, but died there.
A 16-year-old and four 17-year-olds were arrested on suspicion of drugs offences after the death, which is being treated as unexplained.
