    A road in Birmingham has been partly closed off by police after a suspected "small hand grenade" was discovered at a house.

    West Midlands Police says a cordon is in place around the property on Cranes Park Road, Sheldon following the discovery at about 10:00 this morning.

    A man is in hospital after being stabbed in the stomach during a fight in Stoke-on-Trent this morning.

    Emergency Services were called to a takeaway on King Street in Longton at about 07:40.

    A woman, 27, is being questioned by police on suspicion of assault with intent.

    A 42-year-old was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital where he is being treated for a stab wound to his abdomen. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

    A fire at a farm in Kidsgrove yesterday is being treated as arson.

    Crews were called to Second Avenue just before 17:00 on Sunday after the fire broke out.

    The funeral of Stoke-on-Trent teenager Ryan Evans takes place this lunchtime.

    The 13-year-old died after getting into trouble while swimming at Westport Lake last month.

    Four teenagers have been arrested after armed police were called to an area of Tunstall, in Stoke-on-Trent last night.

    Officers were called to Hailsham Close after reports of a machete seen at about 23:00.

    The four youths, aged between 15 and 17, who fled the scene, were arrested on Furlong Road. They remain in custody for questioning for possession of an offensive weapon.

    A 30-year-old man and a woman, 26, arrested following the death of a toddler who was hit by a van on parkland have been released on police bail.

    Police said the van hit the 19-month-old boy just before midday on Friday at Sarehole Mill off Wake Green Road in Billesley, Birmingham.

    The child, who has not yet been named, was taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital with a critical head injury, but later died.

    A Coventry councillor is calling on more public art to be accessible to the public, after a report showed 94% of the city's artwork is locked away in storage.

    The city owns 6,600 pieces of art, worth £18.3m, with only 422 accessible to the public.

    With the city designated City of Culture 2021, Conservative opposition councillor, Roger Bailey, said more artwork should be put on view.

    Coventry Culture, the organisation that runs the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum, said it has only limited space to display works, and some are too fragile or light-sensitive to put out on public view.

    Storms have been blamed for killing fish in the Stourport canal in Worcestershire.

    The Environment Agency said a "significant fish kill" had been reported around the marina and that it believed the heavy rain last night had washed pollutants into the water, causing oxygen levels to plummet.

    Environment Agency staff have been pumping water into the marina and using hydrogen peroxide in a bid to raise oxygen levels.

    About 40 firefighters were involved at the height of an overnight barn fire, in Wellington, Shropshire's fire service said.

    A number of online petitions have launched calling for a Midlands MP to resign after he sent text messages of a sexual nature.

    Andrew Griffiths, who represents Burton upon Trent, has already stood down from his role as a government minister after being caught sending the messages to two female constituents.

    Across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Snapchat, Mr Griffiths reportedly sent more than 2,000 messages in three weeks to Imogen Treharne and another woman.

    He's apologised saying he felt "deeply ashamed" and this is what some of his constituents think.

    Taxi drivers are staging a slow-drive protest at Wolverhampton Science Park.

    It follows a demonstration last month over the way the council issues taxi licences.

    Drivers say too many are being given out, outstripping the demand for their services from passengers, and resulting in fare poaching in other areas.

    He was wearing blue Adidas bottoms, a blue Armani t-shirt, black trainers and carrying a small black bag.

    It is believed he has links to the Birmingham and Wolverhampton areas.

    A former mayor of Worcester is due to appear at Shrewsbury Crown Court today charged with causing the death of his wife in a car crash last year.

    Aubrey Tarbuck, 88, from Hallow, also faces two charges of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

    Anne Tarbuck died when their car was involved in a crash with another one on the A458 near to The Plume Of Feathers Pub at Harley, in Shropshire, in October 2017.

    A young girl in the other car was taken to hospital suffering head and chest injuries, while the driver of that vehicle was also hurt.
