    Ten giant ducks, which have been on display over the summer in Shropshire, are being auctioned off tonight for charity.

    They were on display around Telford as part of an arts trail, having been painted by artists.

  3. Witness appeal after pedestrian hit by carpublished at 17:18 British Summer Time 3 September 2018

    A pedestrian is being treated for "serious injuries" after they were hit by a car near Ledbury on Friday night.

    West Mercia Police is appealing for witnesses, external after the crash at about 21:30 on the A417 eastbound, from Ledbury towards the M50.

    A 60-year-old is being treated at a hospital in Birmingham.

    Officers say the Mazda MX-5 Sport Convertible sustained a damaged windscreen.

    A bridge is closing for several weeks from today, external so it can be repaired after a lorry crashed into it, badly damaging the structure.

    Shropshire Council says the collision with Soulton Bridge, near Wem, happened in November and traffic lights have been in place there since then., external

    The bridge, which carries the B5065, will now be repaired and it could take up to six weeks.

    They've been found from the air, as remains were revealed as differences in colour or in the height of crops or grass.

    Shropshire Council says a team of archaeologists carried out four flights across the county to look for the sites being revealed by the heatwave.

    Among the 22 sites which had never been seen before they found a double ditched enclosure near Much Wenlock and several features around Whittington.

    Water companies have set out plans to cut bills for millions of consumers in England and Wales.

    They include Severn Trent and United Utilities who both said they would cut the average bill by 5% and 10.5% respectively.

    The plans are being submitted by water companies in England and Wales to the regulator Ofwat for the five years between 2020-2025.

    Ofwat will publish an assessment of each company's plan in January 2019.

    The 53-year-old was attacked in the underground car park near the courts in Crewe, Cheshire, on Thursday afternoon.

    Cheshire Police said she was walking to her car when she felt a sudden pain and then saw a person running away, leaving her with minor injuries.

    Thousands of people turned out for the 20th anniversary of the Godiva Festival in Coventry at the weekend.

    The city council says a total of 115,000 revellers enjoyed the three-day event, external, with performances from the likes of Ronan Keating and Editors.

    The festival also saw a poignant performance by The Neville Staple Band, following the death of singer Neville Staple's grandson Fidel.

    Mr Staple's wife Christine sent out a message before the band performed the hit A Message to You Rudy, which was dedicated to their daughter and grandson.

    She said: "Young people they have got to learn to give more love and stop the knife crime."

    West Mercia Police said it happened on Saturday night in Kidderminster, but say the injuries to the three, all in their 20s, aren't thought to be life threatening.

    Two men from Kidderminster, aged 27 and 28, and a 22-year-old man from Birmingham have all been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.

  14. Double lung transplant recipient calls for more organ donorspublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 3 September 2018

    A great-grandfather from Birmingham who received a double lung transplant is urging people to opt into donating their organs.

    Organ donation week starts today, external and the NHS Blood and Transplant Service says there are currently 350 people in the West Midlands waiting for transplants as of this morning.

    Michael Willis, 60, had a rare lung condition and was told he only had six months to live.

    Doctors were able to find him a donor but the NHS says, on average, patients from a black or Asian background wait longer for a match than a white patient.

  16. Man arrested after giraffe used as 'battering ram in burglary'published at 13:25 British Summer Time 3 September 2018

    A 20-year-old man has been arrested , externalafter he's believed to have used a giraffe sculpture to break into a shop in Worcester.

    Thirty giraffes have gone on display through the city as part of a public art trail across the streets which will be auctioned for charity next month.

    A shop on St Richards was broken into at about 02:55 this morning, where some items of clothing are thought to have been taken, says West Merica Police.

    This morning officers said the sculpture had been used as a "battering ram to commit burglary".

    A man has died on the A38 near Burton after police believe he was hit by a HGV earlier this morning.

    Staffordshire Police was called to the southbound carriageway at about 04:10 this morning, where the man died at the scene.
