    England's Ellen White scored twice as Birmingham City Women came from behind to beat Everton Ladies in Southport last night.

    The Women's Super League strugglers led when Inessa Kaagman found space to unleash an angled right-foot screamer from 15 yards on eight minutes, beating City's Hannah Hampton at the near post.

    Hayley Ladd then levelled within a minute with a stunner of her own, a dipping right-foot volley on the turn.

    White struck in each half to settle the outcome for fourth-placed Birmingham.

    Adam Peaty secured his second title in as many days with victory in the 50m breaststroke at the British Swimming Championships in Glasgow.

    The Uttoxeter-born Olympic champion, who claimed the 100m gold and sealed his place on the British World Championships team yesterday, won in 26.51 seconds.

    "I put expectation on myself - I would have liked to go faster," he said.

    Peaty set the current world record of 25.95 seconds at the 2017 World Championships.

    More than 900 properties worth nearly £600m have been bought by the company responsible for delivering High Speed Rail 2 (HS2), figures show.

    The area with the most purchases was Staffordshire with almost 200 and about 120 have been made in Warwickshire.

    Campaigners opposed to the rail project said some homeowners had been treated badly, claiming homes were routinely undervalued by HS2.

    HS2 said it had to achieve a fair price for both homeowners and taxpayers.

    The £56bn high-speed rail line is designed to boost the UK's economy by cutting journey times between London and the Midlands and the north of England.

    The first passenger services are expected to operate between the capital and Birmingham in 2026, with phase two of the project to Manchester and Leeds earmarked for completion by 2034.

    Bereaved families have been asked for their views on the final design for a memorial to commemorate the babies involved in the Shrewsbury baby ashes scandal.

    Shropshire Council has commissioned a local sculptor to create a stone memorial which will stand at The Dingle in Shrewsbury.

    A BBC investigation found 60 families did not have their children's ashes returned after cremations at Shrewsbury's Emstrey Crematorium between 1996 and 2012.

    A model of the memorial is on display in Shrewsbury library and there are plans on the council's website.

    A much-criticised revamp of school transport in Birmingham has been approved, meaning increased charges for some families.

    There are a raft of changes in the city council's new policy including personal transport budgets for parents instead of costly minibuses., external

    But the increase in fees for eligible post-16 (Year 12) pupils is the most disputed move, with 48% of the 1,000 people who replied to the public consultation opposing it. , external

    With the council's cabinet approving the new policy, it means charges for Year 12 pupils will rise from £600 a year to £780 and £300 to £390 for low-income families.

    Cheshire Police says officers were called to the A41 near No Man's Heath. not far from Whitchurch, just after 09:00.

    The 80-year-old man who died was driving the Land Rover and was pronounced dead at the scene.

    Officers say the A41 between the junctions at Broxton and for the A49 is likely to stay shut until this evening so they can remove the vehicles.

    A 16-year-old boy's been arrested on suspicion of rape, external by detectives investigating a sexual assault in Stoke-on-Trent.

    Staffordshire Police says they are still trying to work out what happened in Adderley Green on Saturday night and the teen's been released on bail.

    They add that an 18-year-old previously arrested in connection with the case will not now face any further action.
