    Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell has requested a meeting with the FA to discuss the touchline ban he was given after the match against Swindon.

    He was sent off after contesting referee decisions and said "I think it was a bit harsh".

    Artell will get his hearing next week and he will be allowed to remain on the touchline tomorrow, for the final home game of the season against Forest Green.

    Wayne Parnell took three wickets as Worcestershire won a nail-biting One-Day Cup match against Northamptonshire by 20 runs

    They set the hosts a target of 255, thanks to 126 from opener Hamish Rutherford and the game went down to the last eight balls.

    The Worcestershire bowlers were able to prevent any of the Northants batsmen from reaching a half-century, with five different bowlers sharing the wickets.

    Warwickshire need wickets quickly though if they're going to beat Durham at Edgbaston.

    The visitors need just 56 more runs to beat the Bears, with 11 overs and seven wickets remaining.

    Cheshire East Council is spending £1,154 a day to hire a temporary monitoring officer while it looks to make a permanent appointment.

    The council is legally obliged to have someone in the position to ensure its code of conduct is followed.

    Its acting chief executive, Kath O'Dwyer, said the asking rate for a stand-in could be a lot higher than what the authority was spending.

    The council interviewed candidates for the permanent role on 10 April, but under its constitution, the position can only be confirmed by elected members at the next full council meeting on 22 May, after local elections have taken place.

    A volunteer helping people living on the streets is calling for a permanent memorial to homeless people who have died.

    Angela Sheridan-Hunt, who runs a group giving out food to rough sleepers, has started a petition to get the tribute built.

    She'd helped homeless man Kane Walker who was found dead near the Bullring shopping centre in January this year.

    An inquest into his death concludes at Birmingham Coroner's Court later.

    He wouldn't name names but said it would be a process to take place over the next few weeks.

    Roof sheeting thought to contain asbestos has been dumped in the River Wye near Hereford.

    The Environment Agency believes it could have been thrown into the water at Bridge Sollars and it's working with Herefordshire Council to remove it.

    It says it's "appalled", and while the material poses no threat to people or animals, it wants it removed from the water as soon as possible.

    A cash machine was ripped out of a wall outside a post office in Birmingham overnight.

    Cash was taken from the machine which was abandoned in the middle of Warwick Road in Acocks Green.

    Thieves made off in a car and a van after the 02:00 raid, said West Midlands Police.

    An inline skates hockey team from Shropshire is attempting to break a world record with a 46-hour game.

    Newport Knights thought they'd set a record with a 33-hour game a few years ago, only to find they didn't have the correct paperwork to validate it.

    The club is doing it in memory of its founder Jamie Payne, with the money raised going to Birmingham Children's Hospital, where he received treatment as a child.

    Four men have been arrested after a man was stabbed in the chest in a Birmingham shop this morning.

    The 41-year-old was stabbed twice after an altercation in Hawkesley Square, in the Kings Norton area of the city at about 11:15.

    Ambulance crews treated the man before taking him to hospital.

    His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, says West Midlands Police.

    Wedgwood in Barlaston is being urged to pay back more than £5m of government money, or scrap its planned redundancies.

    The GMB Union said the company was given the funding to develop its visitor centre and factory site on the basis that it would help secure jobs for 25 years, but Wedgwood is now consulting about plans to reduce its local workforce.

    It's been a difficult day for Worcestershire and Warwickshire batsmen in the One-Day Cup today.

    The one exception has been Worcestershire opener Hamish Rutherford (pictured below) who scored 126 against Northamptonshire - nearly half of his side's total of 254 for 9 off their 50 overs.

  17. Pair arrested after cash-in-the-road discoverypublished at 14:10 British Summer Time 26 April 2019

    A man and a woman from Biddulph have been arrested following the discovery of cash on a country road in Cheshire.

    Mow Lane in Astbury was closed by officers on Wednesday night, and didn't reopen until 17:00 on Thursday.

    The 35-year-old man and 34-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of theft by finding, which means they are suspected of taking the cash without efforts to find out to whom it belonged.

    They have been released while investigations continue.
