A mother accused of murdering her two young daughters searched the internet for "how long does it take a dead body to go cold", a court has heard.
Louise Porton, 23, of Skiddaw, Rugby, is accused of killing 16-month-old Scarlett Vaughan and three-year-old Lexi Draper in 2018.
Opening the prosecution case at Birmingham Crown Court, Oliver Saxby QC told the jury that there was no natural cause to explain their deaths and that symptoms showed someone had deliberately interfered with their breathing.
The court heard that Lexi had been taken to hospital on two occasions early in January 2018 with apparent breathing problems.
Doctors believed she had a chest infection and she was given antibiotics and discharged but a week later paramedics responding to a 999 call found Lexi dead in her home.
The jury was told that Porton appeared unnaturally detached after her daughter’s death and examination of her phone showed searches.
She denies the murders and the trial continues.

Staff at Shropshire's two health commissioning bodies are being told the effects of their merger on jobs will be clarified as soon as possible.
And the head of the Telford and Wrekin Clinical Commissioning Group, David Evans, said: "While nothing has been decided yet, uncertainty often leads to people leaving where they work to find somewhere stable so we are working to reassure people quickly.”
The decision to merge the county’s two CCGs is aimed at saving them £1.2m this year.
They're due to combine early next year and Shropshire's CCG is holding its final annual meeting next week.

The new boss in temporary charge of Shropshire's hospitals says she's in favour of centralising emergency services.
Paula Clark's task will be to oversee the reorganisation of services which would see Shrewsbury's hospital becoming the only centre for emergency medicine.
The reorganisation, which is being scrutinised by the Department of Health, also involves specialist women and children's services moving to Shrewsbury and Telford becoming a centre for planned operations.
Ms Clark said she supported the move because accident and emergency staff are "very hard to come by". "The idea of centralising emergency care into a place where we have all the latest equipment and technology, must be the better way for patients," she said.

A Harry Potter first edition book, bought at a table top sale for £1, is expected to sell for up to £30,000 at auction.
Hansons auctioneers said it was one of 500 published in 1997 and used to belong to Staffordshire Libraries before being withdrawn from stock.
It came to light when one one of its experts was called out to value a box of books.
The book valuer at Hansons, Jim Spencer, called it the "holy grail of Harry Potter books"
"Every book valuer dreams of finding one of these."
He explained he was able to confirm it was a genuine first edition because of "some typographical errors that particular version is renowned for".
The 54-year-old owner doesn't want to be identified but told the auctioneers “I bought the book along with three or four others to read on holiday about 20 years ago. I thought nothing of it at the time."
And they said the money raised will be used to buy "a nice new bathroom".
The sale at Hansons Auctioneers will take place at Bishton Hall in Staffordshire on 31 August.
