Beauty spot barbecue cooks are being urged to be very careful this bank holiday weekend as a fire service bids to avoid another devastating blaze.
Last summer, an out of control camp fire caused a blaze which spread over 200 acres of moorland at the Roaches, Staffordshire, and took days to put out.
On top of that, the fire service said the number of deliberate grass fires in the county in 2018 more than quadrupled in the first three weeks of the summer school holidays, compared with the year before.
Now, with great weather forecast across the bank holiday, firefighters are pleading for people planning to have a barbecue not to leave it alone at any time, to have a bucket of water nearby and to keep children and pets well away., external
