The logo has been created because the authority felt a strong brand image was needed. Its multi-layering is meant to symbolise the depth of heritage and culture in the city.

The Mayor of Wolverhampton, Claire Darke, said "We need to celebrate all the wonderful things we have.

"At the moment we don’t have any mugs or fridge magnets – those types of souvenir. We only really have the Wolverhampton Wanderers merchandise.”

She said: “I’ve heard a lot of people who visit say they want to buy something that says ‘Wolverhampton’ on it."

  13. Bid to get roads project moving againpublished at 17:58 British Summer Time 3 September 2019

    Local Democracy Reporting Service

There's a push among councillors to get work restarted on Hereford's western relief road and southern link road amid fears that pausing it was premature.

It was put on hold by the It's Our County member responsible for infrastructure and roads, John Harrington, to allow councillors to re-examine the need for the two projects.

But Lib Dem and Conservative councillors have asked for a committee to review that decision, arguing Mr Harrington made it without enough evidence and that he exceeded his authority.

They say they're worried that potential funding might be lost while the work is on hold.

If the scrutiny committee agrees with their concerns, it could write to Mr Harrington, asking him to reconsider.
