The hive has been installed on the roof of the link bridge between Millennium Point and the University's Parkside building.

Tim Vivian, who built the hive, said: “Hopefully the bees on the roof will allow students to get used to the idea of seeing urban bees at the University. When they graduate and move into jobs where they can influence their work environment, they may consider bees and their needs.”

The first phase of the high-speed railway between London and Birmingham will be delayed by up to five years, according to transport minister Grant Shapps.

That section of the line had been due to open at the end of 2026, but it could now be between 2028 and 2031 before the first trains run on the route.

HS2's total cost has also risen from £62bn to between £81bn and £88bn, but Mr Shapps says he is keeping an "open mind" about the project's future.

Andy Street says he is still behind the project, adding that he hopes the upcoming review into HS2 can "get a grip on the costs and the timeline".
