Work's started today on improving wildlife habitats on three islands, external on a lake in Herefordshire.
The county's wildlife trust has raised and been granted a total of more than £90,000 for the scheme at Bodenham Lake, north of Hereford. , external
Teams have already dumped tonnes of soil into the water and planted hundreds of reed plants to create shallower banks with better habitats for birds such as bitterns and reed warblers.
The latest work's expected to last for about two months and improve conditions for otters and wading birds.

Business leaders in the Midlands say scrapping HS2 would be a disaster for the region.
With costs spiralling, the government has ordered a review of the high-speed rail scheme to link London with Birmingham and the north.
Phase one of the development between London and Birmingham is due to open at the end of 2026, with the second phase to Leeds and Manchester scheduled for completion by 2032-33.
The review team will report in the autumn with a final decision expected by the end of the year.

Gurajdeep Malhi hit PC Claire Bond as she responded to reports of a BMW crashing into a garage in Coton Fields, Stafford in September 2018.
The 26-year-old from Stafford admitted grievous bodily harm with intent and dangerous driving.
Staffordshire Police Chief Constable, Gareth Morgan, said: "This case is a more extreme example and I am glad Malhi has been sentenced for his reckless and cowardly actions.
"The impact on Claire physically and emotionally is clear to see and I pay tribute today to her professionalism, courage and determination on the morning she was attacked and in her approach to returning to full health – both for her family and to allow her to return to the job that she loves. “I look forward to seeing her back at work doing what she does best – serving the public of Staffordshire.”

A lot of you have been sharing your stories on Facebook after a blue badge holder said she was sworn at by a driver who told her she did not look disabled.
Becki Haywood, who has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, said the man shouted at her in Telford when she left her car in a disabled space without her crutches.
People with hidden disabilities, including autism, anxiety disorders or a brain injury, were allowed to apply for blue badges for the first time from Friday.
On the BBC Midlands Facebook page, Melanie Shinnick wrote, external: "I get this all the time! My child is disabled and because we have to help into wheelchair or help access car etc they assume the badge is for the parents! So we get the abuse!"
Jeanette Meech added, external: "I'm in a wheelchair now but when I was walking I got challenged several times. I used to say that MS isn't obvious always, unlike nosiness!"
Surina Kev Ainsworth posted, external: "My daughter who was only 11 was verbally abused by pensioners in the town centre after we parked in a blue badge space (she has autism and various other conditions- all hidden). She had a full on meltdown and was sobbing lying in the middle of the road."

A housing development of more than 150 flats, originally built in the 1960s, is to undergo a £12m regeneration programme, a housing provider has announced.
The work on the Spon End development will see the installation of new roofs, doors and windows, said social housing group Citizen - formed by the amalgamation of Whitefriars Housing and WM Housing Group.
New entrance ways will also be created and some walkways will be demolished.
A consultation with residents will be carried out after a developer partner is procured in 2020, the company said.

Stoke City boss Nathan Jones is denying his team's poor start to the season is down to him making too many changes to the side.
He made six changes to Saturday's team following their midweek cup win over Leeds United in the Carabao Cup.
They then lost 2-1 at Birmingham City leaving the Potters still winless this season and bottom of the Championship after six games.

A shake-up could be on the way for mental health and learning disability services in Herefordshire.
The 2gether NHS Trust, based in Gloucestershire, external, has run services in the county since 2011 including the Stonebow Unit in Hereford, external, which provides inpatient and day care.
But it says it is now talking with the local NHS in Herefordshire about a move to have such services provided within the county rather than across the border.
The trust adds that it hopes to agree a way forward in "the next few months".
The "utter chaos" being faced by train passengers in Staffordshire will be raised with the government, a local MP's promised.
Since a timetable change in May, people have complained of services being repeatedly late or cancelled on the Chase Line between Walsall and Rugeley.
Cannock MP Amanda Milling posted on Facebook, external that she'd be raising the "totally unacceptable unreliability" of the service with transport minister Chris Heaton-Harris this week.
West Midlands Railway, which runs the line, said it accepted performance was "not as good as it should be" and had set up a taskforce to make improvements.
