The Conservative Party's being accused by one of its own MPs of trying to "purge" the group of dissenting "moderate" voices who oppose the prime minister's stance over Brexit.
A senior source from the whips office - which ensures MPs vote on party lines - said those who voted to block no deal would be expelled and deselected.
Eddisbury's Conservative MP, Antoinette Sandbach (above), told the BBC she saw it as "a very deliberate attempt to try and purge the Conservative Party of moderate, sensible voices".
But fellow Tory MP, Shrewsbury and Atcham's Daniel Kawczynski (above), said he felt the whips were right to warn MPs.
"For any Conservative MP to be undermining his position in this way and potentially joining some form of coalition with Jeremy Corbyn is of course a breach of normal party discipline and cannot be tolerated," he said.
Mr Kawczynski went further and called for a general election to solve the current impasse.
Quote MessageThis Parliament has spectacularly failed in its responsibility and duty. It needs to be dissolved, there needs to be a general election and we need to ask the British people for a mandate for a workable majority to carry on."
Daniel Kawczynski, MP for Shrewsbury and Atcham
Kavanagh had made strides to put a criminal record of "enormous concern" behind him, the judge says.

Bus routes are also being diverted away from Broad Street from today as work continues on the city's West Midlands Metro extension.
Birmingham City Council says bus lanes exist to "keep our city moving, giving priority to buses so they can avoid congestion".
However, the move attracted criticism on social media, with many people describing it as a money-making ploy, while others questioned why cyclists were able to use the lanes if they were designed to speed up bus travel.
Some people used the news to hit out at the volume of roadworks going on in the city centre - some of it as part of the tram extension.
However, there has been backing from some quarters on social media - saying the lanes were well marked and drivers had no excuses.
