Australia won by 185 runs yesterday to give the home side no chance of taking back the urn as they can only now draw the series.

Moeen was dropped by England last month after the first Test and took a short break from cricket.

But he returned to Worcestershire and, over the weekend, struck 121 off just 60 balls to power the Pears to the T20 Blast Finals Day.

    Quote Message

I'm a father and I'm a little bit biased but every time England lose, Moeen gets dropped. Nobody else gets the blame, Moeen gets the blame so it's good for Moeen and it's good for Worcestershire that he's doing well for Worcestershire."

The home side would have taken the lead in the first half if the spot kick hadn't been saved.

The Alex then took the lead almost immediately after half-time through Tom Lowery and Charlie Kirk added a second in stoppage time.

    Quote Message

It boosts your confidence no end and all the boys appreciate it but you still need to focus then for the rest of the game."

The 78-year-old said it had been an "honour" to be MP since 1992 but the "current uncertainty in politics and "ongoing speculation about a snap general election" had led him to decide to stand down.
