    West Midlands Ambulance Service said a passing ambulance called in the factory fire in Birmingham at around 16:14.

    It also said it wasn't treating anyone for injuries at the moment.

  2. Warning to avoid area around factory firepublished at 16:56 British Summer Time 13 September 2019

    People are being warned to avoid an area near Bordesley Green, where firefighters are dealing with a factory fire.

    Nine engines have now been called to deal with it.

    West Midlands Fire Service says it's dealing with what's believed to be a factory fire in Birmingham.

    It said eight appliances were on the way to the scene on Bordesley Green Road.

    People have been sharing photos on social media showing a black column of smoke, which is visible from some distance away.

    The former Hereford mayor Jim Kenyon has left the group of Independents that are running the local authority... to sit as an independent councillor (without a group).

    The ex-paratrooper, who used to run a pub, said he only joined them as a short-term move, to help bolster their numbers.

    He used to belong to the It’s Our County group and said he wanted them to form an alliance with the Independents.

    The Conservatives are currently the biggest group on the local authority with 13 councillors, followed by the Independents on 12 and It’s Our County with eight.

    About 10 protesters gathered outside an exclusion zone at Anderton Park Primary in Birmingham this afternoon as they resumed protests about equality teaching that includes same-sex relationships.

  6. Campaigners oppose farm homes planpublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 13 September 2019

    More than 2,000 people have signed a petition to oppose the development of farmland on the outskirts of Wolverhampton.

    The 240-acre area of countryside, known as the Seven Cornfields, has been set aside as a potential site for homes, but the campaigners who set up the petition said it was valuable "green belt land".

    Councillor Paul Birch said the development would effectively create a small town and fellow campaigner Nick Machnik-Foster said the area would "not cope with this over-development".

    Nine people have been treated for minor injuries after a crash involving a coach and a lorry on the M6 this afternoon.

    West Midlands Ambulance Service said it assessed about 40 people on the coach and they're now being found another coach to continue their journey on.

    The lorry driver wasn't hurt.

    Warwickshire's county championship match against Essex appears to be heading towards a draw, after they failed to take any more wickets before tea.

    There are delays of up to 60 minutes following a collision southbound on the M6 in Staffordshire, Highways England has warned.

    It says its traffic officers are in attendance at the scene between J14 and J13, as are the emergency services.

    It says traffic is passing the scene in lane one, following the crash involving a coach and a lorry.

    Highways England advises drivers allow extra time for their journey, if they're travelling in the area.

    Hereford FC have confirmed the ex-Coventry City player Andy Whing has been appointed first-team coach at Edgar Street.

    Whing previously coached at Kidderminster Harriers and played under manager Russell Slade at Brighton and Leyton Orient.

    Two lanes are blocked on the M6 southbound J14-J13 after that lorry and coach crash, as we edge slowly towards rush hour.

    Traffic officers are on the scene along with emergency services.

    It's still not clear how many people have been injured.

    A lorry and a coach have been involved in a crash on the M6 southbound.

    Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Crews and West Midlands Ambulance Service are currently at the scene between junctions 14 for Stafford and 13 for Dunston.

    The ambulance service said it was called to the scene by police and an ambulance and paramedic officer are currently at the scene assessing occupants of both vehicles, but it said more resources are en route.

    We know there are casualties, but it not clear yet how many, or the severity of their injuries.

    The fire service has advised motorists avoid this section of the motorway.

    Police say the van driver who died in a crash on the A5 at Shenstone on Tuesday was 21-year-old Liam Clark from Liverpool.

    His van was involved in a collision with a tractor trailer at the junction of the A5 and Streetway Road.
