The trust which runs the hospital says the subsidiary company would save money by reducing tax payments.

It adds staff pay and pension rights will be protected.

  6. Stroud Fringe Festival to take a breakpublished at 10:00 Greenwich Mean Time 28 February 2018

    Stroud Fringe Festival poster

This year's Stroud Fringe Festival has been cancelled.

Organisers say it will take a break in 2018 to have a "fallow year" and allow them to plan for 2019 and "the long-term success of the festival".

They added that finding funding had become "increasingly difficult" and that one of their major commercial sponsors has decided not to support the festival this year.

Last year a record 25,000 people attended the annual three-day festival of music, theatre and performing arts.

This year's event, due to have taken place at the end of August, would have marked its 22nd anniversary.

Last week Bristol City Council activated the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol which meant more beds would be made available.

The charity says an extra 60 night shelter spaces have opened up since then, on top of the existing 77 beds over the winter.

However, at its peak so far, only 60 people have made use of a provided bed.

Work to repair a 19th Century former bridge tollhouse in Bath, which was destroyed by a car crash last summer, has been delayed.

The Grade II*-listed building on Cleveland Bridge sustained "significant" damage when it was hit.

Two weeks of repair works were due to start on Monday but have been pushed back to 19th March following advice from the contractors who say the mortar will not set properly in temperatures below 5C.

When the work begins, temporary two-way traffic signals will be in operation on the bridge.

  19. Important to plan ahead: the weather until Fridaypublished at 21:58 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2018

Extraordinarily low temperatures, freezing rain and biting winds are in prospect for Thursday and Friday - and the chill begins tonight.

There will be a few snow flurries but most areas will be free of the white stuff.

The bad news is it will feel more like -11 when you get up tomorrow morning. You'll be lucky to see any area in the West get above freezing during the day, before wind chill will make it feel bitterly cold by the evening.

    Ian Fergusson warns: plan ahead:
