  20. Amazon test drones: Your responsespublished at 17:50 British Summer Time 2 August 2016

    BBC Local Live

Yesterday we reported that retailer Amazon has been testing its delivery drones near Balsham in Cambridgeshire.

The test site is an Area of Special Scientific Interest, features a Roman road and is home to many important species of wildflowers and fauna.

Julia Napier, from The Friends of the Roman Road and Fleam Dyke, external, told us she thought this idea was a "fantasy, far off, like travelling to Mars", adding the "idea of bringing drones to the middle of the countryside is deeply shocking".

Local pilot Terry Holloway admitted that Amazon had chosen a good test site, but added that he'd need to be assured that "when the delivery system starts, there would be absolutely no conflict with aircraft .. it could cause catastrophic damage to a passenger airliner".

You've been sending us your responses to the story.

Martin Allen emailed to say "Why not start a campaign to stop buying from them! If people are so incensed by their actions (as I am) then hit them in the pocket!.

"These days of technical wonders never cease to amaze me" writes John from Lincolnshire. "I have visions of the not-so-honest members of society sitting near to an Amazon depot with a 12 bore shotgun ready to blast these drones out of the sky and then waltz off with the goods when they fall to earth."

In a statement Amazon told us: "Safety is Amazon's top priority, and we've encouraged policymakers around the world to expeditiously adopt rules of operation that emphasise drone safety and system performance.

"To bring forward the remarkable innovations of small drones in a safe, responsible way, the industry - public and private, small and large - must work together."
