    Former Melbourn Village College student, Dan Goodfellow, says he is "so happy with the result" after securing bronze in the men's 10m synchronised diving with Tom Daley at the Rio Olympics.

    He told us: "The wait was so long. Tom always likes to look at the scores but I don't. I was so glad it said three not four".

    Dan, who trained at Parkside Pool, external in Cambridge, said his dive partner told him to "stay in the moment, don't let things go to your head". 

    Dan said: "He knows what to expect. As a mentor, he's been really good. 

    "I used to go and watch Tom at competitions so this is a dream come true".

    A 63-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder following the discovery of a woman’s body in a property in Peterborough, has been bailed by police.

    A post-mortem examination was inconclusive and the investigation continues. 

    The woman, who was found at Taverners Road in Millfield and was believed to be in her 40s, has not been formally identified.

    The man is due to answer his bail on 11 October.

    Louis Smith said it was "mentally tough" to wait until the end of the competition to take part in the pommel horse routine and he found it hard to "get in the zone".

    Louis fell from the horse midway through his routine, leading to a one point penalty. It meant that the men's team were unable to gain enough points to secure the bronze medal.  

    His coach at Huntingdon Gym, external, Paul Hall told us: "It was painful to watch. The highs and lows of sport, you know. I know what he was capable of - he wanted it so much".

    Louis has also qualified for the individual final on Sunday, and Paul added: "I think he's going to prove as many people wrong as he can."

    A Conservative MP who has long campaigned for improvements in the ambulance service, says the need to improve response times has been going on "for far too long".

    Suffolk Coastal MP Therese Coffey, speaking after a health watchdog rated the East region's ambulance service as "requiring improvement" in a new report, external, said: "They keep talking about demand rising and I want to know where the demand is coming [from].

    "That's the kind of thing we need to get into though I'll be honest, that should be their job, not necessarily the role of the MP to be pressing them on different areas."

    Health watchdog the Care Quality Commission has rated the East region's ambulance service, external as "requiring improvement" in its latest report, external.

    The report, published this morning, shows the East of England Ambulance Service Trust was inspected twice in April.

    It says the service is under significant pressure and is failing to meet performance standards and targets for responding to 999 calls - an issue highlighted when a Newmarket Town footballer had to wait three hours for an ambulance to arrive at the weekend after he was injured on the pitch in Essex.

    There are also recruitment issues, along with poor training of staff to deal more appropriately with patients suffering with dementia or mental health problems.

    There is good news, however, when it comes to patient care, with it being rated in that area as "outstanding".

    Dan Goodfellow's bronze in Rio in the 10m synchronised diving with partner Tom Daley was "unbelievable", his old coach said. 

    The Cambridgeshire 19-year-old, who had surgery on a shoulder in December 2014, only began training with Daley 10 months ago.

    Dan began his training at Parkside Pool in Cambridge with coach Mark Holdsworth who said the pair gave him "goosebumps" and that last night was "unbelievable".

    He said: "It's been a rocky road for Dan. To see my boy from Cambridge do that, I'm overwhelmed!".

    His old school friends are proud too!

    Spare a thought for Basildon's Max Whitlock, Benfleet's Brinn Bevan and the rest of Team GB's men's gymnastics team who came so close to a medal at Rio last night. 

    The Britons put in a strong all-round performance, however a pommel fall from Peterborough's Louis Smith left the team in fourth position.

    Your son - who's been training hard for years - makes the Olympic podium in a thrilling contest. So you'd expect him to have equal billing with his dive partner on the newspaper front and back pages the next morning - right?

    Wrong. In many, Dan Goodfellow has been completely cropped out in favour of Tom Daley in many cases ... and his mum Sharon isn't happy.

    Great Britain's Tom Daley, from Plymouth, and Dan Goodfellow, from Cambridge, won a bronze medal in the men's synchronised 10m platform diving last night at the Rio Olympics.

    The pair, who only began training together in October, clinched GB's eighth-ever Olympic diving medal after pipping Germany to third place in a tense finish.

    China's Lin Yue and Chen Aisen, the pre-competition favourites, won gold by a comfortable margin.

    United States pair David Boudia and Steele Johnson claimed silver.

    Earlier, we brought you the news that a man has admitted causing the crash which resulted in footballer Shaun Whiter, who works in Stansted, having both legs amputated and another player suffering serious injuries.

    Jan Adamec, 40, of Shetland Road, Haverhill, admitted two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, in a hearing at Cambridge Crown Court. He will be sentenced in September.  

    PC Ashley Bennett, from Cambridgeshire Police, said social media had played a large part in finding the driver after the accident in July.

    People living in the new Trumpington Meadows development, external south of Cambridge say it's only a matter of time until someone is hurt at a fenced-off sports facility.

    Susan Hewitt, from Trumpington Meadows Community Association, told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire young people are climbing over the walls - despite warnings over unsafe drainage. 

    "They're taunting teenagers with great facilities. All sides are arguing over who's responsible. The council won't adopt the land it sits on due to a flooding risk."

    Fenced off playground

    A combined basketball court, tennis court and five-a-side football pitch has been built for residents at the development, but poor drainage means it has been deemed unsafe.

    Barratt Homes, who built the sports ground, said: "There are already three other playgrounds available at the development as well as a 148-acre country park.

    "This additional amenity space, which is being provided sooner than originally required, will be handed over to the local authority once all the necessary formalities have been completed."

    Good news for former Cambridge Blue Tom Ransley as the men's eight eased their way into Saturday's final with a comfortable victory at the Lagoa.

    Tortoiseshell Jessie was rehomed by Stephen and Tracey Jessop-Thompson, just a few months after the sudden death of their 18-year-old daughter Lucy. She died after suffering a cardiac arrest as a result of an undiagnosed heart condition.

    Tracey told us: "Losing Lucy was indescribably hard and I've learned that comfort comes in all sorts of places, often where you don't expect it. Jessie... has soothed me when the pain has felt too much to bear."
