  2. Woman airlifted following Whichford crashpublished at 09:59 British Summer Time 13 July 2016

    A woman has been airlifted to hospital in Coventry, external after a car crash in Whichford.

    It happened yesterday lunchtime on Whichford Hill.

    A man was also hurt, but it's believed none of the injuries are life-threatening or life-changing.

    Meanwhile, police want to hear from witnesses to a nearby, unconnected collision involving two vehicles in which one failed to stop. It happened in the early hours of Tuesday on Barretts Hill between Whichford and Stourton.

    Two lanes blocked and queuing traffic on M6 northbound between J5, A452 (Castle Bromwich) and J6 A38(M) Spaghetti Junction, because of a crash involving a car and lorry.

    Travel time is at least 50 minutes, with congestion back to J4a M42 on the edge of Warwickshire.

  5. Boy, 3, with organs outside his abdomen to undergo surgerypublished at 08:33 British Summer Time 13 July 2016

    A three-year-old born with his organs outside his abdomen is to undergo life-saving surgery later thanks to a chance meeting with an English couple.

    Ethan Suglo, from Ghana, has exomphalos, external which can be fatal but is routinely treated in the UK.

    Last year his father Charles met doctors David and Jacquie Williams when they were visiting Ghana and asked them to examine his son.

    The parents, from Stretton-on-Fosse in Warwickshire, helped raise £39,000 to fly Ethan to the UK for surgery in Oxford.

    There's a lane blocked and there's slow traffic on the M6 southbound between J3a M6 Toll and Corley Services, because of an accident involving two cars, BBC Travel says.

    The A452 Kenilworth Road in Blackdown is blocked with slow traffic in both directions at the Hill Wootton Road junction, because of an accident.

    I've been speaking to some of those taking part in today's demonstration about proposed library closures in Coventry.

    Suzanne Weberley-Homes, 38 from Earlsdon (pictured holding the banner) says she and her daughter are regulars at the library's rhyme-time sessions.

    "I've been taking her since she was a baby" she said, It's the way children learn and connect with others".

    Peter Spencer, a teacher at Frederick Bird Primary, says he takes his two-year-old son to the library "as we can't afford to buy him books all the time".

    The city council has said it is looking for volunteers to take over five libraries as it has to make savings.

    A new Free School for Rugby has been approved by the government.

    The application for Ashlawn Free School was one of 31 announced as exiting Prime Minister David Cameron visited a free school in west London.

    On a lunchtime trip to Reach Academy in Feltham, he joined pupils for a dinner of baked potatoes and beans in the dining hall.

  14. Boy jailed for stabbing man in armpublished at 17:13 British Summer Time 12 July 2016

    A teenager stabbed a man in the arm and punched him in the face.

    The 16-year-old was arrested after attacking the man near to Coventry Sports Centre in Cox Street and then chasing him into the city centre.

    The boy, who was on bail for another offence of wounding at the time, was sentenced to a total of four years at a youth offenders institute, police said.

    An accident is blocking one lane of the M6 southbound between J5, A452 (Castle Bromwich) and J4a M42.

    It's also busy on the M6 northbound between J3, A444 (Nuneaton) and Corley Services because of an accident earlier on.

    James Haskell's injury, sustained in England's second test against Australia this summer, requires surgery and the Wasps back row is now expected to be sidelined for four to six months.

    About 40 people gathered on the steps of Coventry Council House today to demonstrate against proposed library closures.

    The council suggests five could close if volunteer groups don't come forward to run them.
