    Coventry Sphinx have re-signed striker Jamie Towers. The 34-year-old forward started his career at Sphinx Drive before playing at a host of clubs including Nuneaton Town, Leamington and Rugby Town. 

    Sphinx boss Stuart Dutton will be on BBC Coventry and Warwickshire's Sport at Six this evening.

    Swimmers tempted into a Warwickshire beauty spot are being warned about the dangers of going into open water, after a number of deaths. Twelve people have died in the sea round the UK in less than a week. Draycote Water near Rugby is a popular destination for tourists and water lovers.

    Former Sky Blues defender Reda Johnson has described Tony Mowbray as one of the best managers he's played under in England. 

    In an open letter posted on social media, external, Johnson also thanked the Sky Blues staff and fans for their support in his two years at the club. 

    The Benin international left the City for Eastleigh in the summer after injury problems restricted him to 34 appearances for the club.

    The Met office has issued a yellow warning for rain. Local thundery showers will develop across the area during the afternoon, evening and overnight. 

    This will be heavy at times and may lead to some localised disruption.

    Midlands fire crews say they're expecting a rise in the number of water rescues to which they'll be called amid warm weather.

    Large areas of water, such as Draycote Water near Rugby, can take months to warm up, meaning those who fancy a dip can be hit by cold shock syndrome simply by jumping in. 

    The National Water Safety Forum, external show 231 people drowned in open water across England last year.

    Celebrations are taking place in Coventry today for the Shree Krishna Janmashtami Festival. 

    The International Society for Krishna Consciousness, known colloquially as the Hare Krishna, are marking 50 years since the creation of the local group. 

    Around 600 people are expected to help mark the occasion throughout the day, which involves mass, theatre and lots of food.

    Coventry University, external is launching an app today that aims to encourage students to be more responsible neighbours. 

    The University and the City Council, external worked with local residents to develop the app called 'Your Rubbish', which is available to download for free from app stores. 

    It informs students which day their bin is to be collected and what materials they can put in differently coloured receptacles.
