    A £45m investment around Whitley could be a catalyst to revitalise Coventry Airport said visiting business minister, Margot James.

    The scheme, which will be part-funded by the Local Enterprise Partnership and Coventry City and Warwick District Councils, will cover 60 acres and link to the expanded Jaguar Land Rover headquarters.

    The investment will be a "catalyst for growth" in other sectors, she said, "and if the airport benefits from that it will be a very good thing".

    The Prime Minister and the Chancellor have been visiting the University of Warwick and Jaguar Land Rover in Solihull, where Theresa May highlighted the role of British business in the global economy. 

    Speaking at the assembly plant, Mrs May addressed the fears of some business leaders over leaving the European Union.

  13. Robberies involving 'firearm' linked, police believepublished at 13:30 British Summer Time 1 September 2016

    Two robberies involving a man using a suspected firearm, external are being linked.

    The first was in York Street, Rugby, on Sunday evening when a taxi driver was threatened with what police described as an "old-style gun" after picking up a man and woman at the town's railway station. 

    The second robbery, at a hotel on Brownsover Road, Rugby, happened at 04:30 on Tuesday when a man threatened the night porter with a suspected firearm and demanded he open the safe.

    A man arrested on suspicion of both offences has been released on police bail until next month. 

    No-one was injured in either.

  14. Travel: A46 remains closed for recovery workpublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 1 September 2016

    The recovery of an overturned lorry is still causing severe congestion on the A46 near Stratford-upon-Avon.

    The southbound carriageway is closed between the A3400 Birmingham Road junction and the A422 Alcester Road junction.

    Busy traffic also on the A422 westbound in Drayton between the A46 junction and the A4390 Arden Street junction.
