    We're seeing some pretty gusty winds in the West Midlands today, so much so a trampoline was blown on to overhead cables near Atherstone railway station.

    The line has now been cleared by Network Rail staff after several hours of disruption earlier this afternoon.

  3. Man to go on trial over Sikh temple protestpublished at 14:59 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January 2017

    A man accused of committing a religiously aggravated assault during a protest against an inter-faith marriage is to go on trial.

    Gursharan Singh, 33, is alleged to have assaulted an official at the Gurdwara Sahib Sikh temple in Leamington Spa on September 11 last year.

    Singh, who gave his address to the court as that of a Coventry law firm, indicated a not guilty plea at Leamington Spa Magistrates' Court today. 

    Magistrates granted Singh conditional bail to appear at Warwick Crown Court for a further hearing on February 10.

    A murder investigation is under way after a man's body was found in the early hours of this morning in the Henley Green area of Coventry.

    Paramedics were called after reports of a 50-year old man suffering cardiac arrest. Detectives say they're treating the death as suspicious. 

    A 54-year old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

    Police are at the scene this afternoon conducting house-to-house inquiries.

    A 54-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a body was discovered in Coventry's Henley Green area. 

    Police say paramedics were called to Henley Road at around 03:30 this morning after reports of a 50-year-old man suffering cardiac arrest.

    Good morning. Here are some of the stories we are looking at today. 

    - 740 jobs have been saved at engineering firm Covpress, based in Canley, which makes body panels for Jaguar Land Rover. It's been pulled out of administration by Liberty Industries Group.

    - Referrals for homelessness rose 25% in the last financial year - according to a report for Coventry City Council.

    - The new owner of the old Cov Tel building in Coventry City Centre says he can't guarantee his aim of turning it into a boutique hotel. 

  11. Arts Council awards £200,000 to boost city tourismpublished at 10:11 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January 2017

    Plans to attract more tourists to Coventry are to benefit from a £200,000 investment by Arts Council England as part of their Cultural Destinations programme.

    It says it will help support the creation of a new strategy to capitalise on the city's artistic and cultural heritage "to encourage growth in the visitor economy".

    Our top story this morning: Referrals for homelessness rose 25% in the last financial year, according to a report for Coventry City Council., external

    The council says 1,695 people were referred to the Salvation Army due to homeless during 2015/16, compared to 1,355 during 2014/15.

    Rooms used to house those without their own home are at 98% capacity with almost 100 city families being sent to bed and breakfasts in the city because there's nowhere else for them.   

    Paul Curtis who runs Hire the Homeless in the city, external, who used to be homeless after losing his job, says living on the streets can be a very lonely experience were no one speaks to you.
