    A man has been sentenced to four years and six months in prison for a burglary that took place in Dunchurch near Rugby. 

     Ricky Lee Allen, 38, from Thurrows Way in Derby appeared at Warwick Crown Court last week in relation to the robbery in which a quantity of jewellery and curency was stolen.

  14. Bus lane suspension trial starts next weekpublished at 17:00 Greenwich Mean Time 10 January 2017

    A trial to see if reducing the number of Coventry's bus lanes reduces congestion and improves air pollution gets underway on Monday. 

    A phased programme begins which will see the suspension of eight bus lanes for the next nine months.

    The council says it will be putting up special black and yellow signs at the bus lanes which are being decommissioned to make it clear to motorists they can drive on them.

    Bus lanes without the signs will still be in use.

  15. Plans to turn Telegraph offices into hotel revealedpublished at 16:42 Greenwich Mean Time 10 January 2017

    A building that housed the Coventry Telegraph for more than 50 years could be turned into a hotel, preserving the 1950s interior.

    The office block on Corporation Street has been bought by city developers, Complex Development Projects (CDP) who said they'd like to save the "important part of the city's history and potential attraction for visitors".

    The building has been empty since the newspaper moved to the Canal Basin in 2012 and planning consent has already been given for its demolition.

    Managing director of CDP, Ian Harribin said the plans are at an early stage but they hope the hotel will retain the minimalist design and celebrate "Coventry's story of resurrection".

    There's queuing traffic on A14 westbound between J1, A5199 (Welford) and the Catthorpe Interchange because of people slowing to look at a lorry that's gone into a ditch.

    The problem is having a knock-on effect on the M6 southbound in Warwickshire between J1, A426 (Rugby) and M1 J19, Catthorpe Interchange.

  17. Driver seriously injured in A46 crashpublished at 16:01 Greenwich Mean Time 10 January 2017

    A man was seriously injured when his car overturned and crashed into a tree, the ambulance service says.

    They were called to the crash on the northbound A46 in Warwick around 18:15 last night near to the junction with the A4177.

    The driver, believed to be a in his 50s, was treated for head and shoulder injuries as well as suspected factured ribs.
