It will be the first rise in five years and reflects, MEL says, a "partial catch‐up with inflation".

Extra security will be in place at Coventry's Godiva Festival in the wake of the terror attacks in Manchester and London, say organisers.

The event starts at the War Memorial park tonight but there are warnings that everyone's bags will be checked and festival-goers should be prepared for queues.

    Main stage Godiva Festival

Festival director Lee House said the extra measures were to "help people feel safe".

"We're not trying to frighten people, but we do recognise what happened in Manchester and in London means that we also need to make sure that we're a bit firmer about things and we've got things in place to make people feel reassured when they come to the festival."

Around 160 security staff will be on site along with officers from West Midlands Police.
