    Emergency maintenance work is to be carried out on West Gate in Warwick, says the county council.

    Temporary traffic lights are in place at the junction of High Street, Bowling Green Street and Leycester Place until Saturday for scaffolding to be installed.

    The quality of care homes and care services has been revealed in a report by the Care Quality Commission today.

    In the West Midlands, 81% of adult social care services are rated as good, which puts the region second nationally.

    The report outlines what the CQC has found from over 33,000 inspections of over 24,000 care homes, home care agencies and other services across the country.

    Nationally, inspectors have found that one in four adult care services in England is not safe enough.

    The charity, Age UK, says for many families, choosing care is like playing Russian roulette.

    Police are trying to trace a man they would like to speak to, external after a Nuneaton woman was dragged out of her bed and attacked in the Queen Elizabeth road area of the town.

    A man was also assaulted and had to be taken to hospital after three men entered the property in November of last year.

    Officers have launched a search for Matthew Gane, 36, who, they believe, has connections to the Nuneaton, Bedworth and Coventry areas.

    A bench has been dedicated to the Coventry schoolgirl who died after being hit by a skip lorry last October.

    The memorial to Sophia McDonald has been placed at a primary school she attended, Saint Peter and Paul in the Walsgrave area of the city.

    The seven-year-old died after being hit by the slow moving lorry as she crossed a road in Coventry.

    Head teacher at the school, Kevin Shakespeare, said it was a place for pupils to sit, chat and remember their former classmate.

    A "wet house" should be introduced in Coventry for people with alcohol problems, a councillor says.

    An American concept, a wet house is a place where people with serious alcohol problems can go to drink in a safe environment.

    Figures in the city's three-year Alcohol and Drug strategy show that hospital admissions for alcohol in Coventry is "significantly" worse than the national average, although similar to comparable areas of deprivation.

    Councillor Ed Ruane, talking about the strategy review, said a safe place for problem drinkers to go could deliver a saving for police and cut hospital admissions.

    "A place where people can go and drink, but also help them in terms of their recovery" could form part of the strategy to tackle problem drinking, he said.

    A man has died after a crash on the M45 near Rugby this morning, say the ambulance service.

    The eastbound carriageway remains closed after a car collided with the central reservation at Dunchurch at around 04:30.

    Ambulance staff said he was taken to Coventry's University Hospital but pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
